Drive Assistant Professional - Lane Change
I think DAP works fairly well, certainly better than the equivalent system on our Volvo S90, but does anyone else think the lane change feature is a bit aggressive on "how" it changes lanes (not when)?

I haven't had the guts to test it in real life yet. I just about crap my pants trying to use parking assistant. I'm still getting used to the shifter coming from an Acura automatic.

It is aggressive most of the time, but I check and make sure I see what it sees.
FWIW, I'm sure there was a lot of data that went into the timing of it - ie... the opening that the car "sees" will expire. The aggressive lane change is to make sure that the action takes place while the allowable conditions are still present. |

I finally got to get some highway time in today and overall I'm very happy with the DAP. I picked a few very open spots to try the lane change and thought it worked quite well. I also like the amount of information displayed on the dash and the way the steering wheel controls worked.
I don't know if the quickness of the lane change is dependent upon the traffic. I'd like to think BMW would err on the side of caution on that. |

When I work up my courage I'll try it in some heavier traffic. Not impossible they made it situation/condition dependent. |
