folding the wing mirrors while driving

Apologies if this was asked before.

I have auto close wing mirrors on my 2018 X3 G01. When travelling through small country lanes I would like to be able to close and open the wing mirrors at will while still moving for those tight narrow gaps. Have tried flicking the switch while the car is moving but nothing happens. Is this possible or does it require coding?

Thanks

I think over some mph it doesn't respond, perhaps 5 or 10mph. Not sure if you can code that out (others can weigh in to confirm).

That would be useful. I have a 22 and the mirrors auto depoy at about 10mph after being folded. Won’t fold in again until stopped.

It would be very useful...went through a very tight pair of bollards with about 2 mm to spare last Saturday!

My problem is very narrow lanes in rural Cornwall. Seem to meet lots of Formula 1 vans (in the drivers mind anyway) coming the other way. Would be great to retract the mirrors.

I lived in Virginia Water for 3 years and almost on a daily bases needed to fold my mirrors on a narrow lane driving my kids to school. I really enjoyed my time there...

They fold for me at slow speeds in Canada.

Maybe it's just disabled based on region.

They fold at really slow speed in the UK as well, such as when pulling away from a stop. Just can’t do faster than 5-10mph before they deploy, but when slowing down they won’t retract until at stop.

The speed in which they fold is in the owners manual embedded in iDrive. Since that manual is vehicle speicific by VIN & options…it will be more specific than the paperback version. Plus, the iDrive manual has multiple ways to search.

Also, if you have Bimmercode…you can check their website to see if you can change the operational parameter to fold-in at speeds other than the default from factory.

From page 124 of the owners manual. Push the button and keep your speed below 25 mph.
