Rear passenger side window broken
Hello everyone,
I drive 2021 BMW X3 and someone broke my car side window. I am attaching few pics of damage. Do I to go only with dealer or outside body shop who said they will fix with OEM glass. I see rubber on the sides of window also need to be changed. how much it costs approximately. I live in Dayton, OH, if anyone know can you suggest best place to fix it. Thanks. |

I've had good experiences with Carl's Body Shop (near downtown Dayton). My only experience with a dealer body shop was not so great, but YMMV.

Sorry for you :-(. Why they make such a mess? Why break that window and not the quarterlite? Why are such people allowed to even exist?
Hope you get it sorted :-| |

Most BMW dealers don't do glass even if you take it to them they will have someone else come in to do the work.
Taking it to BMW or 3rd party will be fine either way. If 3rd party, request OEM trim pieces and seals. Sorry about your luck. These types of people are literally the scum of the earth.

Did you call your insurance company? That's theft/vandalism and should be covered under your comprehensive policy.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions.
I took an appointment with local body shop company for an estimate. I haven't called my comprehensive policy has deductible $1000 and repair cost also around 1k. I am planning to not claim if is less than $1200. |

This might be an ignorant question, but is having a $1000 deductible common? I, for one, have never had such a high deductible. I am also sorry this happen to you. There are just people in this world who exist to be a**holes.

I have a $0 comprehensive deductible. I figure if something happens to my car that’s not my fault, I don’t want to be paying a dime for it. When talking to my insurance company, the difference in premium between the two deductibles was like $8 per month. It’s the collision deductible that makes the most difference.

Somehow I felt confident and thought I never claims and increased my deductible to $1000 couple of months back.
I have clean driving from past 12 years and was maintaining with deductible $500 always. I went to glass america in dayton, they have done decent window work today. Only thing they told is they can't get all glass particles and few remained in door and I can hear glass particles noise when I am closing door, not sure if it damages anything. |

The big window is far easier to replace than the small one. Let alone cost and sourcing the small one. Adhered with windshield glue. Just because it's small doesn't make it easier. A fixed quarter window is almost always much more expensive than any moving window.
