Thinking about the 2007 X3 From an E46 Owner
I never thought I would be interested in a SUV. Since I've had my E46 since 99, I'm looking for something different. I'm still not 100% sure I want the E90 335i sedan, I'm like 80% there. The other 20% says get something different. I want to stay with BMW. I tested the X5 and it's just too big for me.
I have never driven the X3 and now for 2007 it's had a facelift. I never liked that black cladding and now that's gone. I want Nav, this one looks like it pop's up but where is the i-Drive knob? I'm still not sure what 2007 vehicle to get, all my options are open. The 7 series seems like for people over 60 (not me) The X5 is just too big for me/too truck like The 5 series is ok but I'm not sold on the front eyes turned up and rear trunk poor exterior designed. The 3 series I've owned since 99 and still love it and may get the E90 335 sedan, still on the fence maybe if I wait to drive it. The X3, the newer enchancements for 2007 sound nice with newer interior trim exterior looks alot of nice updates, I like the increased ride height and I'm sure it will drive like a BMW but I dont want something that looks like a station wagon which I've heard people refer to it as. The last 2 photos remind me of a baby X5. What do you all think of the new X3 looks exterior/interior? Has anyone here gone from a 3 series to an X3? |

Well BMW has said that for 2007 they have enhanced the interior.
"The BMW X3 Receives Greater Performance, Enhanced Safety, Updated Styling, Interior Refinements and New Luxury Options for 2007" I think I read that it also gets an M style sports steering whee? Looking at the layout of the cockpit it looks similar to an E46 with the headlights knob on left and A/C control in the center stack. But I still can't figure out how you control the Nav without the i-Drive knob. Maybe it's touch screen like Lexus? |

The new X3 will be a nice car thats for sure. As long as you get a sport pack it will look a hell of a lot better.

I have an e46 m3 and an X3. I go from one to the other constantly and it's no problem at all. I used to go from the M3 to a Land Rover. I can't tell you how many times I misjudged the power and handling of the Rover (slow and sloppy) when driving it after the M. I do not have that problem at all with the X3. The '07's are even nicer than my '04.

wy wife has an X3 and loves it...and my 4 year old goes to dance, not soccer.
Anyway, the interior is nice, less roomey than her old X5, but that's to be expected. Handles very nicely. Engine nosie is not very loud, but the engine has some pretty good get-up-and-go for a 3.0 SAV. She has the sport package, and I highly recommend getting it.

i have an X3 and absolutely love this car. Loads of fun and very effective for my work (i have to put boxes and all in the back). Decent performance and unlike other 4wheelers it can actually take corners.

I ordered the X3 iin Highland Green, premium package, nav, heated seats, black interior and it should be in next week. I found the X3 smooth (not as smooth as a sedan, but I did not expect it to be) When test driving every other small SUV (which is what I wanted) I found all others lacking in some way. I was seriously considering the Acura RDX until I test drove it. Very choppy, you could feel every bump in the road. Also, even fully loaded, memory on the driver's seat is not an option-period. Important to me since I share the car with my partner.

Highland Green is an attractive color, we seem to be seeing an abundance of Platinum Bronzes, I'm really hoping for a Highland Green, especially with Sport. The only qualm I have with the X3 is the Nav unit. Its extremely cheap looking, and takes away from the overall expirience of the X3/Z4's in which it is equipped. Its a pain to navigate, requires the use of either the right selector knob, or the spotty voice command. I sold 4 X3's in the past week alone, only ONE opted to go with navigation. |

Your mind will be made up after that. |

my wife really likes the X3. She's pestering me to trade in the E90 on a 535 or an X3. I want to hold on to the car for another year but I think I'm going the X3 route.
