2022 X3M weird remote start buzzing
Currently have a 2022 x3m with almost 10k miles. Ive noticed a strange electrical/buzzing like noise coming from the engine are when you remote start the car and only when you use remote start. It seems to be more audible when bending over and listening under the car. Once I get in the car after remote start and push start button for drive ready mode the noise instantly disappears.
Im curious to know if anyone has experienced this or has any sort of clue as to what might be happening. I have an appointment at my local dealer in December for oil change and diagnoses of this strange noise but I would like other members input before they try to say "it's normal." Its definitely not normal and is a similar sound to a electric pump. |

Ya know what's weird, I think I have that same behavior, and it's even more weird in my case because mines not the OEM remote start since I'm pre-LCI. I noticed it twice the last couple of days.
I'll have to pay more attention to when I hear it. |

Yeah mine is totally sporadic. Just tried it and had no noise at all. My girlfriend heard it this morning though when she used the remote start.

It’s not the e-brand and not the fuel pump. This is more of a rattle buzzing sound compared to how the fuel pump sounds. It doesn’t do it every single time but quite often and like I said it’s there the entire time after I remote start then goes away as soon a I push the start button to start driving.

I only notice it with remote start, its the right side front, which makes me think its the waste gates closing or something with remote starter needing something done before starting... trying to isolate it.

Yes mine is only with remote start as well. I can’t quite tell what side but absolutely the front. You can’t hear it from a distance but as soon as you walk to the car to get in you can stand beside the car and hear it. If you bend down under the car it gets much louder. I can’t see it being the wastegates but I wouldn’t rule it out either. Whatever it is I believe it is just getting “stuck” on. I assume it’s something that happens durning every remote start but doesn’t get “stuck” every time. It would be really helpful to pin point this ourselves so it would be easier to get it fixed under warranty.

I do a agree. I notice a complete change in the way the car runs to when you press the start button when the noise disappears as well. The change im referring to is very minute but you can tell the engine changes and the noise goes away at the same time.

Its only during cold starts too... I cant locate it but I'm sure its the waste gates because when you start normally it knows youre in the car so it probably does it before it starts when it knows the keys have entered so instead its doing it during a start and makes extra noise that way.

The noise we are referring to is a electric buzz like a solenoid of some sort. I can drive 20 min shut the car off hit the remote start right away and it will make that sound it does not need to be a cold start.
t's very surprising if there isn't more x3m owners with this same issue. Once in a blue moon I can remote start ad to have this issue but 98% of the time I do. I can understand not everyone uses remote start so maybe that's the reason there's to a ton of people that notice the noise. Like I mentioned above even when it's not making the noise the idle sound of the engine changes slightly n tone when pressing the start button to enter drive ready mode. If it helps anyone I can try to get a decent video uploaded of the buzzing and how it disappears as soon as the start button is pressed. Last edited by hateahater; 11-13-2023 at 08:22 AM.. |

I am still learning how to use these forums on some levels. I notice this thread doesn't show up in the most recent ones. Can someone help me or give me some tips on how to get this post more views please?

I guess I’m just so concerned due to having only 10k miles and I question if it’s this might be the reason the last owner got rid of the car. How many miles is yours and when did you first notice it like what mileage? Also on a side note do you ever notice any abrupt Hard-ish shifts when letting off the accelerator pedal and slowing down? I defiantly do, not really concerned because it’s buttery smooth on upshifts and never has any harshness when using paddles to shift.
