Pretty sure the chaperone is due to insurance reasons, the M5 Comp and the 850i being the only models above $100k , it would stand to reason that whomever is providing their event insurance would want a nanny along for that ride.

I'm kind of curious as to if someone stuffed the X3m at the start of the tour, its the only reason that would make sense for the ridiculously late notice of its absence.

I just got confirmation from BMW NA that there will be no X3 M available for test drives. There was a delay in production. They are working to get them ready for later scheduled dates but in the mean time an X3 M40 will be available to drive at the event. Not the result we all were waiting for but thats the information I was told. ☹️

I was going to Columbia, SC today, but X3M was "not available" so cancelled. I can drive an X3 M40i or whatever it's called anytime.

Went to M tour event today, drove M2 Comp, M4 Comp, M5 Comp and M850i back to back. Loved the M4 more than the M2, M5 is a different animal all together and loved it on its own. M850i is a beautiful car and perfect convertible to cruise around.

No X3M but X3 M40i was there, didn’t drive it.

M5 Competition there wasn’t a chaperone and it’s such a confidence inspiring with the AWD....the poor manager apparently gets a GPS ping every time you jump over 85 I hear.

There is a set route that they tell you to take but it is memorial weekend so traffic was terrible because the entire state trooper team was out on full force. They allow 20 minutes but it took longer to take that route. Normally it would only take 15 minutes to drive the route.

Ugh. I have an appointment to drive it in NY on June 15 and I'm really hoping it'll be available by then. Unfortunately, it's seeming less and less likely.
