Most of the vehicles you can drive without someone in the car with you. They are not new cars for sale so you also don't have to feel bad about winding them out etc. Also the drives are typically longer. For example with the 7 series release that I did i was just handed the keys and told "see you in a few hours". I don't expect this to be to that level, but it is a different experience than a test drive. They also are typically not selling you so no pressure.

Sign up for dealers is almost expired. However, there is a cost involved for dealers to sign up and host the event. I do not want to say how much it costs but it's certainly not cheap.

I did the same thing. Driven the M2 several times before but not the M2 Comp. Same with the M5, but not an M5 Comp. Obviously never driven an X3M!

I couldn't attend at a closer dealer because I'm out of town that week, but signed up at a farther dealer in June.

I was registered for the event at my local dealer and when I showed up this morning I was told they didn't have the X3M Competition model available yet. Keep in mind that is the vehicle I registered to drive a couple of weeks ago after getting the invite email and I never got a call or email in advance telling me the car would not be at this event.

Not happy since that is the only car I was interested in driving...a total waste of time. I blame BMW since they appear to be managing the event and not the dealer.

They mentioned today they would have it in a week for the events...not sure if that's true or if there are multiple groups doing this and some have them now. Either way it was not handled well today.

Good question...I emailed customer service with my complaint and was just told they would pass on the feedback. I guess they think if they offer you the X3 M40i to drive that's it's close enough .
