I just swapped in my X7 for an IX3 and noticed that the lane change assist function is not working. Has anyone else experienced this?

It is not on the iDrive 7 systems as far as I know. My 520D 2017 iDrive 6 had it. The iX3 doesn’t come with it. That’s for sure.

But to be honest did you used it often? I experienced it as clunky.

Oh interesting. It is not on my version delivered in the Dutch version. But I will definitely check it out.

My iX3 has lane change assist and it actually works quite well. Even the assisted driving mode (simple self drive) works quite good.

It does depend on the version and you might need to ask your dealer.

PS: lane change is part of the assisted driving mode and is configure able in the menu of the car

Well I have this assisted driving mode. But never saw the lane change options in the menu’s but going to drive today and we will see!

Well doing some more investigation it apparently is removed from the options list in the Netherlands and Belgium as far as I can see. Should we have to code it to activate this option, or did they had chip problems and removed this option at all?

I fear that is one of those things that are dependent on national rules and regulations. Pretty sure it has also been disabled in Denmark.

Did a VIN-decode of my car and found the “S8TR - Decoding additional functions”

Unfortunately much of the sales material on BMW national Danish website just appears to translated from the German site, as there a few features, e.g. Remote 3D view, that have been disabled, even though it is mentioned throughout the the website. It took a call to Connected Drive Support to find out, that this not legal in DK.

Would be nice with a list of which features are enabled/disabled in different countries. Instead of having to spend time in the menus of the car, trying to find the different options.

This is the same in Sweden sadly. The majority of automatic driving options in the IX3 menu is disabled due to country restrictions.
But it seems to be a coding solution for this on the G01 where you can switch country code and unlock the features. Not sure it works the same way on G08.

The one I test drive in the UK had it, worked pretty well. I still dislike how Europe blocks cars being able to self steer over a certain %age, bet tesla driver in Europe hate that too, as full self drive will never work until its changed.

Finally, after going through two dealerships that didn't have a clue, BMW (UK) has confirmed it should be available. Should have lane change settings too but that's not in mine. Now to a third garage to see if they can sort it out.

Both demo cars I drove had it, I know some territories block it though, and know that the g01's had mods to enable the American version so it can steer over the euro specs %age.

I'll have a look when mine arrives hopefully in the next week or so!

Mine should be arriving at a similar time. Hoping that it is enabled as shown in the promo video. Especially as there don’t appear to be any legal reasons for it not to be available in the UK.

Like I say, worked perfectly in both demo cars I had, and they were UK spec. One with the blue bits the second without.

Lane change assist does not work on my UK car, if you indicate with assisted driving on the car gives up steering control until you get in to the next lane and then it resumes steering.

On the screen/hud the steering wheel changes from green to grey as soon as you indicate.

If yours is truly working, what are the exact steps you are taking to make it change lane on its own? Are you tap indicating, full press etc?

OK so I have pretty much all the assistance options switched on. Let's say I am on the motorway I activate both lane assist and speed assist so the car is now steering itself in the left lane at 70mph and if the icons on the dash are green I don't have to do anything.

If i approach a car in front I indicate (full press) and the car moves out on it's own. i usually turn off the indicator when the lane marker is under the car. It then finds the new lane and carries on.

Same to go back to the left, indicate fully and it moves back

I'll have a look at the settings to see if there is anything there

Yea it does have that. Under Other it also has this
