Big guy in M Sport seats

I'm looking at ordering an X3M that's equipped with the M Sports seats. Unfortunately my dealer doesn't have any sitting on the lot. I'm 6'-2" with a linebacker build and I'm looking for some feedback on the seats from bigger frame guys or gals. Are they snug? Can you get comfortable in them? Do they have a decent amount of adjustment?

That's funny that you mention that. I was trying out the competition and the regular and I found the regular seats to actually be more comfortable and didn't pinch me in the back is much. I'm sure that others will tell you the opposite.
I Found the sports seats a little uncomfortable, I also found that the seams in the back pressed into my back.Again, I am sure you will find people to tell you the opposite. I would try another dealer and sit in a car with both seats so you can determine for yourself which is comfortable. Also be sure that the side bolsters are adjusted because I found that those hurt me until I expanded them. They are adjustable.

They are actually really quite comfortable, snug but not too bad. For reference, my previous 2011 M3 was a little more snug than the X3M, and I chose that car over the MB C63 because they were so much more comfortable. But honestly, if you have found some sport vehicles to be too uncomfortable, you really need to find one and sit in it.

Might be a little tight honestly...definitely recommend trying to find one to sit in before pulling the trigger.

In addition to fit once seated, consider whether ingress/egress will be an issue. The higher seat bottom and side bolsters make getting in and out more difficult.

For me, despite the visual appeal of the M Sport seats and the wider range of color options, the standard seats were a much more comfortable choice for daily use and still are quite functionally supportive.

Gmanjeff brings up a very good point! When I had my M3, the car sat lower so I found myself going up and over the thigh bolsters. But with my higher-sitting X3MC, I find myself sort of dragging, or sliding my bottom across the bolster, and I'm sure it will cause it to wear prematurely. I have been conscious of this and try to keep my weight off the bolsters. My X3M is my garage queen and is driven less than 5K miles a year so hopefully I can keep the wear to a minimum.

I am 6' 2" and 200lbs. The seats have plenty of adjustments to make them comfortable for me. They are on the snug side which I personally like because they keep you planted during spirited driving. Good luck with the new car. You are going to love it.

I'm 6' 5" and currently around 215 lbs.
I don't have any issues with the M Sport Seats and would rather take those than the comfort seats. Last week I had for 2 days the new BMW X6 M50d and those seats were more comfortable but in my opinion a bit too wide. I felt like sliding in the corners.

I like the sporty feeling in the X3M M Sport seats. And it's true, you will notice the bulsters while getting in and out the car.

I would recommend you the M Sport seats. They look amazing, too!

Im 5'10 about 240lbs (big boy for sure). The seats are fine. The only 'issue' is getting out, you kinda rub or are rough on that side part of the seat. It's not uncomfortable at all, you more just feel bad being 'hard on the seat'.

When I get out off the car I kinda lift my ass like I just took a dump in my pants lol, but it makes me feel better about creasing that part of the seat with my big body.

Comfort wise, there is plenty of space and customization to make it right.

They will be snug. Definitely spend a little time in them before you decide.

I'm 6'4" 240 with a X3MC. Seats are extremely comfortable and even more-so than the F80 that I just came out of. Suspension... now that's a different story

I'm 6ft 9in & 130kg/285lbs ish and fit snug and comfortable in my X3MC, my back is wide.

I would try and sit in one regardless of what we say here mate.

I'm 6'4 260, mostly it's comfortable. The back bolstering is just fine, the thigh bolstering kinda bothered me early on. My driving position had my legs stretched straight, in that position the bolsters dug in. Sitting with my legs bent like a regular chair feels fine.

Thanks everyone for your feedback. I went to my dealer this past weekend to test drive a 550i and while there I sat in an M5 with the M Sport seats and an M2 with the M Sports. The M5, which is an incredible car, was more than comfortable. The M2 felt like I was flying coach on Spirit Airlines. They do have an X3Mc arriving in the next few weeks and my CA said he would contact me when it arrives. I could certainly live with the standard seats but I hate giving up the color choices of the M sports.

The bottom bolsters of the 2022 X3m Comp are literally unbearable. It makes me happy I am not alone, but sad that I will sell this car because of the pathetic attempt at making seats for anyone that's > 6' tall and muscular with big thighs/ass. lol

Has anyone changed the seats with a fabricator? The bolsters make my drive miserable after 30 minutes. Luckily I purchase a purple seat pad and have that in there for the time being until I get rid of the car. There IS NO other spots SUV that I want or that can match the driving experience. It is really really unfortunate.

I'm going to try anything to keep this car.

I personally find the padding too firm and agree that something is off about the bottom bolsters (I do not have a big ass or thick legs). I have found the magic seating position that works for me but they are far from the most comfortable seats I've ever had.

Ya man. I hear you.

In my eyes, nothing really competes with this car so there aren’t any alternatives.

I completely agree. As much as I loved the look of the M Sport seats, They were too firm and I could not get comfortable in them at all. The much higher lower side bolsters make it harder to get in and out of the car. This isn't a race car. I selected the regular, non sport seats because I want to be comfortable on longer trips. I have other cars for the racetrack that even have much more comfortable race sets. It's too bad because the M Sport seats looked really nice

They are firmer and more snug. But will break in some and are comfortable enough that you won't really notice. I remember purchasing a Mustang GT a few years back with the Recarro leather seat because they looked sharp. Huge mistake, those were so uncomfortable. These are nowhere near Recarros.

For reference, I’m 5’11” and 230 lbs with relatively big thighs. The key for me to be comfortable in the M sport seats is to take my wallet and other big items out of my pockets, especially when in jeans. I can then do 6-8 hour trips in the X3M with no issues.

But I have been used to firm BMW seats for 20 years.

I’m 6’6” 255lbs but pretty lean. I think I’ve crushed them plenty. It’s almost like I need the material removed at this point. I’ll figure out how to post a photo here and send the condition of them, and my seat pad lol.

I found the seats to be a bit snug/taught at first but you appreciate them more when you start having fun on the corners LOVE the ventilation action in the heat!
