The mileage penalty isn't usually the same in advance as it is in penalties. It's usually significantly less.

Did you get the £135 from a dealer quote for 15,000 miles per annum, or did you just work it out from the excess mileage penalty?

Extra mileage on a PCP is usually around £7 per 1k, although it may be different on M cars.

Just watched a YouTube review of this on UK roads and realised it's not really a family car. It's too hardcore to cope with our lousy road surfaces. Doubt I could cancel my lease this close to delivery but regardless, I think it's too aggressive to be enjoyable by anyone but the driver. Guess I'll stick with my 30D order.

Thanks - clearly (and thanks to above also) I was pissed when I wrote that - I missed the 5 off the end.

An epic vehicle, in my humble opinion, is the 40d.

Happy to be sticking with my M40i.

Already been offered an X3MC for £58k (new, unregistered, about £81k list with options) but it's too firm as a family bus on UK roads IMHO.

Even at these really attractive prices the X3CM simply hasn't got the right balance of virtues for many people. It has for some so good luck to them and snap up a bargain.

I have to say, if I hadn't signed a lease a few weeks ago for my soon to be delivered 30D, I might be tempted, crushingly hard suspension or not. I imagine servicing might be expensive too?

These comments reflect why the BMW contribution is so high and the deal is so good...the market isn't particularly strong for this vehicle.

I wonder if this might happen in part for the M3 with the 340i being such a great car...

The X3M is no doubt a great car with epic performance, although albeit a bit stiff, especially for the UK's comedy roads. But I reckon that the XM40i and the XM40d are just too good and therefore for the price difference the X3M may be struggling with sales.

Joe Achilles has done a video (sorry no link) comparing his mates XM40i to the X3M and in the end he preferred his own XM40i due to the harshness of the X3M.

On my papers it just says "BMW Deposit Contribution £5,000" and also a "Special Allowance" of £16,527 which is the car discount.

I don't really agree with Joe. I like his videos, but it was like comparing a M240i with an M2 Comp and complaining about the ride. Yes it's stiff, but it is in a GLC 63S. It needs to be to maintain flat cornering.

It's stiff, but not to the point that Joe makes out (IMO), but I would concede that in Comfort it should be a little softer - not enough difference between the3 suspension modes.

So when driving for fun no issue, but on some crappy roads going slow it will be harsh. I also didn't think the ride was any harsher than in a 440i with RFT's.

Joe's review also compared to an M40i with MP4S's and not the standard RFT's.

Congrats on the order.

Agree with everything you say. The X3 M40i/d are terrific cars, but I'd still sooner have an X3M.

Would you mind PM'ing your exact spec and monthly figure over?

But the X3MC was also fitted with PS4S, and the X3M40i is available without runflats so was a reasonable comparison with both cars on comparable rubber.

And a GLC63S rides significantly better than the X3MC.

Having just had an X3m on loan for the weekend I will definitely be sticking with the 40d. The M is way too hard a ride and to be totally honest in my opinion the extra performance is an irrelevance and about 95% of the time unusable where I live. Loved the seats and the nice carbon extras but love the way my 40d flies under the radar and the performance is much more accessible more of the time and plenty quick enough. Won’t even talk about the difference in fuel consumption . Love my 40d even more now.

Yep my M40i which is now 3 days old was delivered correctly to my spec without RFTs.

I'm been on RFTs for the last 11 years, it's wonderful to get away from them. There's a certain sort of "fidget" to the RFT ride which I'm relieved to have got away from. To be fair the current RFTs and suspension setups are way better than my 335i vert which used to throw itself across the bumpy roads.

Sigh... we're back to this debate again.

The M40i is a great car, definitely the perfect balance between daily driver and power

The X3MC corners better, goes faster and looks sportier

These are the facts...amongst others.

This debate is worse than android vs Apple...

Didn't realise the M40i came with non RFT's as an option - it's not an option on the M340i

I drove a GLC63 and it felt similar to me.

Enjoy, I can't stand diesels so a 40d would never be an option made a mistake and had the 640d with the same engine. Never again.

The M40i is different but not enough power. My 440i has the MPPSK which is epic and I was running a JB4. Going to a new B58 with the OPF's wasnt really an option but I was considering an M340i Touring - problem is that it's more expensive monthly than the X3M!

I'll keep this for 2 years and get the new M3 when it comes out in 2021. Quite fancy the Pure version with RWD before giving in to electric.

S58 is a superb unit. Can't wait to try it in a new M2/3/4.

The 640d didn't have the same engine, it had the N57 which has significantly less torque than the B57 in the M40d.
