Coolant leak
Hi everyone !! I started noticing that my x3 is leaking the coolant !! I took it to the dealer and they said that it’s the upper hose. They’re charging me thousands to replace it but that piece costs usually $130 ! We declined that service and ordered the new hose so we can replace it. So, my husband did replace it but the leak continued!!! What could’ve happened?
Please guide us! Thanks |

Not to be rude, but this is why service centers are a business. They get paid to properly diagnose issues and repair them accordingly. Before opting for DIY you would have been better of spending that $130 on a diagnostics fee at a Indy shop to verify if the dealer was correct. Then you would have had leverage to get a likely cheaper repair cost with the Indy shop.

It’s also possible that you now have a different leak triggered during the replacement work.
As suggested above, have a good independent BMW shop diagnose it, and also have them look for other frequent under hood issues that it might make sense to deal with at the same time. |
