I'm told that's the case. The people selling these solutions will never tell you everything because if they did we could probably do these things ourselves without them.

An update would wipe out full screen CarPlay but not CarPlay itself since that's provisioned from BMW. You would just be able to re-enable full screen using the same method and file that they gave you. This is assuming BMW don't change anything to prevent this working in future updates. It's a constant game of cat and mouse.
Thanks. Yeah I get that they won't want to give me details which is why I suspect I'm going to try and have to reverse engineer this myself or just blind trust it which bugs me. In theory I should be able to diff the changed file against my original ECU bin file but the size difference of the evo file is about 10x when compared to my initial ECU bin. I suspect there is data wrapped into the .evo file that their windows based program decrypts and interprets. Will spend a couple days on it this weekend and see how far I can get. Sites with information on binary files for EVO/NBT iDrive also seem pretty limited which is making this even harder. I might look at Subaru or some other brands to get the concepts since I expect it's not that much different. Know any good sites that may have some info on this?

I should add that the fact that the .evo file is 10x+ larger than the original ECU binary is the bit that bugs me the most. If it was a simple .ini file change I would expect the size to be almost comparable to the original file. I have no idea what code is taking up that extra 1.2MB. What is being loaded onto my idrive??

https://cartechnology.co.uk is a good site but you need to pay to be a member now.

If you make any progress let me know. Happy to help out if I can.

I'll be keeping an eye on this one for sure. Thanks for attempting to figure it out. Info on this process seems very slim, and I'm not so keen on blindly uploading a file to my car not knowing exactly what it's doing. The 10x file size doesn't make me feel any better about it either.

I am working my way through BimmerCode Expert settings (I.e. all..one at a time review).

I know I have seen Full Screen CarPlay listed in a few places.

Since I don't have it enabled, and I don't have an IPhone, I did not pay attention to where it actually was.

My guess is under Headunit.

Coding with E-sys or Bimmercode will not enable Fullscreen.

Are you only able to reverse the full screen process if you are able to patch with USB?

Is there another way to see current song info while in Waze once fullscreen is enabled? Does IOS 13 give me this capability?

I purchased this but now I am not sure I want to do something that is irreversible.

Finally, I have not registered and paid for carplay yet as I just purchased the vehicle and I am in my free year, will applying this patch cause a problem when I do go and activate carplay in 9 months as I can't activate now as it is too soon.

Who did you purchase it from? Did you need the ENET cable or are you able to do it completely with USB? It is technically reversible but you'd need to get a reversal patch from whoever you purchased it from. The folks I bought it from didn't offer it

Agree. Adding the fullscreen carplay requires an update that is beyond coding with BimmerCode

iDrive 6 doesn't support full screen CarPlay, no matter the iOS version.

Yes I know, have it myself. Natively was the word I should wrote in my precious post. Thanks for clearing things up for others.

Could please tell me where is this code available for $50?
Is this operation reversable comparing to USB activation?

do a little search here, many are doing it, can be found on eBay too. Whether or not you need a cable instead.of USB depends.on the NBT version in your car. Some coders with USB solutions are providing a file to reverse the action. I also read that once done, it cannot be fully reverse - not an expert, can't say more.

Do you think a future firmware update will fix this after iOS13 is officially released?

It’s not a fix for Apple to make.
BMW could definitely roll it out in a software update.... but they wouldn’t.

I have ios 13 beta and the full screen doesn't work
you need to do it separately
it will be nice that bmw releases an update with carplay full screen but going to happen
