changing driver profile while not having the fob in the car

I've searched the Forum and not found what I'm hoping for so maybe someone here can help.

in our 2020 X6M50i I could swap to my driving profile even if the wife had been driving and we only had her FOB in the car. All I had to do was tell it what profile I wanted and it changed. in the X3 oh Hell no. It wants a PIN number if the other FOB isn't in the car. we don't carry both FOBS because who ever grabs the door handle first is going to be what the settings are set to. We put in the PIN number we use to get into the My BMW app but that doesn't work and it tells me I need to set one up. looking at the manual on pg 68-70 . this has to be stupidest application requirements some code writer could ever come up with. "Countries in which ConnectedDrive is not avail-able:If a PIN was not set up or the PIN is not known, the driver profile cannot be activated"
My question is how do I turn recognition off on a profile so we can just activate it without all the BS. or can that even be done? can I use the Bimmercode to turn it off?

The PIN in Idrive is not the same as the PIN for the app. Just set one up that is easy to remember like 1234. Do it for both of your profiles. Then either of you can select if you happen to pick up a different key. It is different in each version of Idrive. It isn't that hard to do (like many BMW things) once you've done it.

I’m not sure you need a PIN. I can select my profile without one being set up.

I can switch profiles with the PIN no problem in our X3.

if you don't link a profile to a fob then a pin is not needed to choose it.
