Now I can use the laptop just for flashing (while hard wired) and connect the phone via the WIFI BM3 agent for logging. I've been told by others that flashing over Wifi isn't the best experience so I will avoid it. But logging while on wifi sure beats hard wire connected to the phone.
Hey sir...just checking in. Tune kicking ass still?

Hey! The latest revision is pretty badass...instant torque.

I haven't had a chance to log as it was raining a few days this week, but will do it tomorrow afternoon.

The latest revision keeps boost targets all throughout the rpm band, I did test it out in 2nd and third gear and it throws you into the seat violently. Pretty exciting 😁

So interesting behavior from the car, if you leave the BM3 wifi agent (or raspberry pi) plugged into power from the cigarette lighter after leaving the car and locking it...the alarm will go off in 30 seconds. The cigarette lighter power cuts off after a minute or two but it seems if you leave something connected to the obd port actively using it while locked it will sound off as anti theft? I assume.

Couldn't figure out why the car kept going off at the super market parking lot till I realized the raspberry pi was left plugged in after the run.

You can code this off via BimmerCode (to avoid the alarm)

+1...I had to do this as well as I typically leave a veepeak dongle in obd reader and went nuts thinking my radar install screwed up the alarm...lol

I picked up a custom 93 oct tune from Paul last week based on this thread and I couldn't be happier. I don't have e85 readily available near me so I decided to go with 93oct for convenience. Prior to this I was running BM3 OTS ST2.

Details/mods:

2020 X3M Comp.
RK Tunes intakes
ER cattless DPs
Dinan axleback
265/295 Michelin PS4S

I'm only on the third revision (haven't had a chance to log this version yet) but the improvement over BM3 OTS ST2 is simply night and day. I also did the XHP ST3 trans tune, Dinan coil packs, and 1 step colder NGK plugs in conjunction with Paul's tune. To put it simply, there are just gobs and gobs of low end torque now and the car pulls harder across the powerband. Honestly it almost feels like a different car when you lay into it. Once I have a chance to send some more logs and get an updated revision, I will get post draggy results. For anyone on the fence, I highly, highly recommend pulling the trigger.

+1 on how the car just launches when you get on it, that instant torque lol. Obviously if you're in third and going 20mph or under 2k rpms you're gonna have a slight lag cause the turbos are no where near spooled but once it's at 2500 it's out!

If it's that much different from an OTS, I might have to try it. Is there much difference between stage 1 and stage 2 on 93? Also wondering how a custom 93 compares to an OTS E30.

I think ethenol blends and their tunes will give you the best bang for the buck...if you can readily get ethanol.

I'm almost done with my revisions so I'll be dynoing soon. I think there is a post on this forum with Dyno numbers on OTS tuned (93 and e30). Could compare it to those once I have the numbers.

Also will be getting a draggy next week so I'll have some of that data as well soon.

I'm using the OTS Stage 1 from bootmod but am thinking about going the custom route via Paul as well. I'm basing this partly off the positive feedback from this thread and one other thread. It also sounds like there is a bit to gain with Paul over the 93 octane stage 1 tune from bootmod

I saw that the BM3 OTS 93 tune dynos at 550~ Paul mentioned to me we can hit 615. That's why I went with custom.

I imagine there is also the added benefit of some refined driveability. Not that the bootmod3 stage 1 is bad.

I am likely going this route. Familiar with BM3 and proven.

The issue with dyno # comparisons is that unless it's the same car, on the same day on the same dyno, results vary widely. I would love to see someone post up the stock tune as a baseline, OTS tune, and then the same stage as OTS but custom.

Yea very true on the comment about differences in dyno. However Draggy times should be a good comparison as well (that's why I want to be able to provide both values for the community).

I will be picking up the Draggy this weekend from a friend.

I dont know how Paul does it but every new revision is a thriller.

Just got a new one today morning, I flashed it and went on a drive. Slammed the pedal while on a roll at 30mph in third gear, I've never held onto a steering wheel so tight trying to hang on.

It was absolutely exhilarating.
