I first tried to remove the radio control panel by itself but the top hooks into the piece around the AC vent and controls. You first have to pop that piece off, then remove the radio trim, then remove the radio controls, swap them to the new trim and reinstall in reverse.

The problem I ran into was a hook behind the AC trim that I broke. If I had lifted from the bottom I probably wouldn't have snapped it off so pry up from the bottom then tilt up.

I unplugged everything from the X to make it easier. There is a pic is of the two pry tools I used.

Let me know if anyone has questions.

Did you unplug your battery since you have to disconnect the radio controls?

I didn't disconnect anything (battery/AC/radio) during my install. I just set it off to the side while I popped the radio controls out to move it.

I just got this done, it is a bit of a pain. I pried from the bottom like you did in the pic to get a gap. Then I had to pull up and out with both hands pretty hard to get it to come out. Prying with a tool alone was not enough to get the top vent piece to feel like it was coming loose. It didn't feel like I was going to be able to get it done at first.

Incredible. This is the same company that make the pre-LCI CF center console units too...
