2022 BMW X3 M40 CPO Purchase:

Obviously the big unknown is where the market for a 2022 M40 will be in 3 years - I'm basing residual off 2020's currently for sale and dropping $5k bc I know they've been marked up.
For the CPO purchase, where are you getting 1.85% for 60 months?!!!

Even BMW's best APR (much lower than market rate) is still 2.99% these days!

The '22 seems a bit high, It's not hard to find them in the upper 40s around me, but then again you didnt list mileage or anything else about the vehicle.
https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/invent...NWIDE_SHIPPING

Seeing as they are still making the babyMs, and the 25 is a new style, you can look up what the 2019s are going for to get an idea of resale on the 22.

The M is the mystery on value (if anything) bec there are no plans for 25/26 MY, the earliest I have heard is MAYBE a 27/28 and no details on if thatll be gas/ele/hybrid (think XM)

you know you are going to lose $36k on the lease for sure, I doubt the 22 will depreciate THAT much . 2018 m40s are still going for 20ish - so if you could get one for under 50, and you don't have nay repairs in 3 years, that would financially be the safer bet, BUT it is a BMW, so maintenance costs + possible repairs, I'd say either will end up costing you 30-35k /3yrs ...

no financial advice, just spitballing quick numbers

He said he was paying cash in full for the CPO, so the MF is irrelevant

Good point as I missed that!

I'd personally go for the CPO, especially since the MY22 and MY24 are nearly the same car (get the MY22 if you care for gesture control)!

Only interested in CPOs with <20k miles and have a few must-have options (Harman Kardon, Premium, shadowline) hence the higher price. They get significantly cheaper >30k miles.

I think I could *potentially* save ~$10k going the CPO route but that would only happen if all the stars align, ie no significant maintenance or repairs not covered by CPO warranty + I have good luck with the resale.

Here is my deal. Don't think it is very good but please chime in and let me know.

Performance delivery build- not on the lot. 2024 m40 x3. Finance.

MSRP- 71,970
Discount- 1500
Rebates- 2000 (500 military and 1500 loyal)
Total- 68,470

Said the 3.99 for 60 won't transfer to the deal. 3.99 is for on the lot only and won't lock for future date anyhow. Will have to take what is available when the car is ready. Said about %6.29.

Also note I see 3,000 off for a military discount. Said that's for cash only and won't stack with loyalty if a cash deal.

I have looked at the last few months of posts. Looks like better deals to be had from the posts. Not sure if that is for on the lot cars or builds too. We are located in NC...

Thank you for any insight provided.

4.8% off for me in this environment for a car that is getting a new model in a few months is an absolute no go... i would aim for 5k off at least.

Hes not lying to you about the military offer. You can look these up on Edmund’s. https://www.edmunds.com/bmw/x3/2024/deals/

1) Your discount stinks ~2%. Since you are doing performance delivery, any dealer can do this for you. So DO NOT accept this lol. For example - Next Level Auto Brokers - Can help you.
2) financing rates - while the CA is right that the 3.99 is non lockable and states the car must be on the lot - what he has no freaking clue about is the financing rate bmw will be offering when your build is ready. I think the upper bound for a new car with bmw financial is 6.xx%. So hopefully he was just trying to guide you as worst case scenario. But this dealer sounds like one that would mark up the financing rates. Sooo - you need to make sure to agree to bmw program + no markup. Whatever that rate may be at the time..

That dealer is playing hardball. The fact that they quoted 6.29% for a "future" APR means not only will they for sure mark up the APR an additional 1% but won't be willing to work with you on the rate.

Any reasonable dealer who wants to keep a customer would have said "we won't know what the new rate is until we see it"! If you're having trouble getting a deal locally, go through a broker!

Thank you all! HUGE. Felt this was not a good deal but just didn't know for the last car I bought was during covid times. Confirmed by the bimmerpost experts. Yes!

Will reach out to the broker on Monday and a couple other dealerships. Was a little bummed but now back to being excited about the car. Thx again.

That's better. As for financing, check with your local credit unions and see if they can match/beat BMW. And since you'd be using a draft check, you might qualify for the "cash" price. Also if there are any extras you want or warranties, start shopping now. The Finance Office is going to want a cut of your deal too.

EDIT: Some credit unions will allow you to lock your interest rate for as much as 60 days out. If you are military or dependent and have USAA, you can also get your loan through them for the same interest, usually...

Not sure if this is the right place to ask this-what is the consensus on prices? With the refresh coming out next year, should we be anticipating that prices drop on 2024 models in the coming months?

There are decent deals out there, not sure if they're going to get much better. Dealers will try and feather it and not have much inventory on hand when the 25s do start to arrive. But that probably won't be until ~September, and 2024 production stops in June IIRC.

The biggest factor will be if you want some uncommon combination of options/ color.

I think you can do better - I was quoted 36/12k at $874 pre tax with max MSDs on a $71k MSRP build. Try Zack over here. https://forum.leasehackr.com/t/zz-au...v-az/503138/29

My discounts carried over from Dec when we ordered until the car was leased in feb, apr did not only bec they were running a 2.99/3.99 deal on lot only, apr IIRC is 5.9x on the full M but we could have gotten 2.99 in Dec on the m340, you can check edmunds and bmw.com for discount restrictions - they are showing 1k loyalty and 500 military only so may be a "dealer" discount"

Most of the brokers on leasehackr are giving 6-8% off MSRP on x3m40i leases, so of them will put a sale together for a similar deal if you pay their commission (usually about $500)

Hard to fully evaluate this deal without knowing what incentives you qualify for if any or the full details of the lease program.

EOD the only thing that matters is what is the sale price (before any incentives) - this discount is what is called the effective dealer discount. This is the discount that is being quoted by a broker on lease hacker when people at 8% off msrp before incentives.

Dealers like to cagey and non transparent. They will often quote you one NET discount that includes YOUR incentives and say that incentive is 1500 - well that’s about 2.5% of the msrp - so the dealer discount is whatever they gave you minus this 1500 2.5%. So if they “matched” this 8% but were hiding that they included this discount then they really only gave you 5.5%. Where the broker is giving you 8% is 8% before the 1500. So once you add the 1500 incentive you are actually getting 10.5% off the msrp. This is all under the assumption you qualify for some hypothetical 1500 incentive. I don’t know the current programs.
