Does switching between awd and RWD require a flash every time you switch? Or once flashed can you select awd/rwd somehow?

Xdelete offers flashing awd/rwd on and off on most e series and some f series cars.

Funny personal experience.
When I had my F15 X5 sDrive35i, I was laughed upon for owning RWD SUV.

Now, 2020, RWD X3M was sought after.
Not a bad idea, but just a little contradicting.

It wasn't switch-able though. That's a huge difference.

Once this RWD mode is enabled there is no drivetrain warranty to keep -this is not an OEM option in any X3 M nowhere. This is something that the dealer should not know that is activated in the car.

I am more interested in knowing which DSC algorithm is activated once this RWD is enabled -is this a hidden X3 M RWD DSC, no change from the AWD DSC or the F90 RWD DSC algorithm? DSC for an AWD is not the same algorithm as the DSC for RWD.

You can already code most xdrive cars to 'RWD' via an app

I am aware of that app but it has some downsides in that it uses diff parameters and when returning to AWD its not exactly as tuned from stock. I assume this is different in that it is true BMWs settings? Or am I wrong?

This is different because it is accessed through BMW software which is awesome!

Bingo. High Priority Checksum configuration error, flagged automatically via Telematics.

Lease or Finance with BMWFS, hope you're able to grab some lube.

I believe the stability program operates the same as an F90 M5, in 2WD mode.

The X M models seems to share the same components as the F90 but for some reason I guess they've disable the selectable RWD option, specifically on all the X models.

I'm guessing it because of potential liability reasons, being that an SUV's higher center of gravity and massively powerful motor.

If this X3 M with RWD enabled uses the F90 DSC algorithm then liability is the least concern about this project.

IIRC to access 2WD in the M5 the DSC is off so what algorithm will there be?

Although historically DSC is re-engaged once the abs is activated regardless of model/drive mode etc....(been that way for a while across all cars since DSC was introduced)

It's cheaper and easier for BMW to put the same transmission/drivetrain/diff etc..in multiple cars and just switch features off rather than not include them, clearly the X3M has the same as the M5 with certain settings off.

DSC may be off to engage RWD, but there is a DSC once it is activated during driving on RWD mode.

This is not as simple as slapping the DSC calibration of an M5 into an X3 M if some coder enabled an RWD mode that was not supposed to be there to begin with, and see what happens. We just don't know what the DSC will do on an X3 M with RWD because the factory never intended this configuration to be possible for the public. We don't even know if BMW tested this configuration, much less if they developed a DSC algorithm for this RWD mode on an X3 M.

Hope that nobody finds out the hard way.

It's a cool feature to have, been done by Xdelete, however even if done on the M5, the M5 is more forgiving in AWD mode as well as faster on take offs. There's too much power in these engines not to be AWD, specially for the less experienced.
