X3M Facelift LCI Mule Spotted

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Was able to take this photo yesterday at the PC. The front grill had heavy camo and the rear had the quad M tailpipes, sorry I didn't get a photo of the either the front or rear.

OMG I would not be surprised, as the entire front had the camo, unlike the traditional LCI's which is only part of the front/rear. I did not see any "Electric Test Vehicle", as BMW has used fake exhausts in the past to hide a electric test mules — this was not the case.

Maybe they're testing a new covid-19 appropriate mask 😷 that doesn't restrict air flow, and didn't want to test it on a g8x and polarize the community even further !

Thanks for sharing, Ibiza

While I don't wish to get involved in a polarizing discussion of the front grill as seen on other sub-Forums, in case BMW Marketing/Design is reading through this section, I respectfully request they not pursue a large grill face on the F97/98 lines. Please. Don't.

I've tried to look at ways in which this design is potentially enhancing aerodynamics and engine airflow. But with the solid horizontal cross bar holding the front license plate and the two sensors, it just doesn't make sense that is driving the design. That solid structure behind the grill could be a modified bumper design, rather than continuing a large single vertical grill piece, which is what it seems most of us believe is antithetical to BMW's heritage. Progress and change is fine, if 'form follows function'. To this point I haven't seen a solid reason to support that line of thinking.

I would have a difficult time purchasing my next X3MC(S) if it arrives with that type of front. If it had CFRP aero roof, titanium exhaust, light forged wheels, and a tune up to what current St1 offerings allow, it would give me pause, but I would probably just end up keeping both of our current models.

Not sure why the whole body has camo - they didn't even bother to change the doors on the G80, leaving an unsightly transition between the widened rear fenders and rear doors. The LCI X3M exterior will probably have extremely minor changes.

I recall the doors on the f80 were shared with the normal 3 series. The only panels shared.

edit: confirmed, parts catalog shows same part number for front and rear doors for f80 and regular 3 series.

Right but that was OK because the transition looked natural on the F80. Now go look at the transition on the G80.

I am surprised for a LCI being already tested. I wasn't thinking one is due for another couple of years?

The G03 is due for a LCI, as the M variant was a few years behind the X3 series market release, as the LCI includes both the series and M models.

They need to put a small gas motor to help the top end, like 4.4liter V8TT.
