- BMW ELW N20/N26 Turbo Oil Feed Lines - BMW N20 Pressure Switch - Leak Diagnosis Module (NVLD) - BMW N20 Engine Coolant Thermostat - BMW N20 AND N26 Engine Timing Chain and Oil Pump Drive From your post it seems you're good on the timing chain. On my car I had to have both the Turbo lines and Thermostat replaced. |

Performed the "Golf Tee Mod" today (cept I used a screw, because I dont play golf). Now the exhaust flap stays open 24/7 ... handy for those who prefer it this way.

Also, deleted the exhaust resonator and installed a bottle style resonator in its place
exhaust pipe cutter tool, what a genius idea took about 15 mins for the first cut 30 ish mins later, its out the new pipe is 12 inches, the oem resonator was 7 inch. So I measured an extra 2.5 inch on each side of the oem resonator for a total length of 12 inches and made the cuts test fitting the new pipe out bolted it down with butt joint exhaust clamps Sound Clip |

You're in San Diego, can't really go much more south than that without jumping or tunneling the wall Sorry, couldn't resist. I really like the sound, more throaty.

It was earlier this week, but I now know how to add DEF to my 2015. Apparently the dealer forgot to add it a couple months ago when I had my oil change service, so the 1000 mile countdown started nearly 2 weeks ago. I didn't want to take a 3 hour 100 mile round trip to go to the dealer for this, so I YouTubed, bought a 1/2 gallon bottle on amazon, and a couple of 2.5 gallon bottles locally. Added 3 gallons, and alert went away. Now I can do it myself, saving from what the dealer would charge. (The last receipt from a dealer didn't break out what the labor charge for this would have been. The actual fluid wasn't that much more than Advance auto parts).
What had kept me from trying before was knowing there were 2 tanks. I thought the easy to find one was for just 1 tank, and for emergency use. |

I have an idea, why not move near me in NY so I can bring my X3 to your place? Our virus rate is quite low too

When I changed my trans fluid, ista instructs you to disengage the parking brake and disable DSC. I assume since follow on steps involve going through the gears D1-D2-D3 manually, the wheels should be spinning, otherwise why would it instruct you to release the parking brake and disable DSC? I'm guessing with the output of the transmission spinning, some additional fluid gets distributed to places it can't without it spinning I don't know if spinning the wheels is critical, but without the wheels off the ramp/lift, it wouldn't be possible? If it were the opposite and you find your way to CA, I've got cold beers waiting for ya Quote:
My plans were to row the gears and not spin the wheels. If this is a bad idea, I'm not against putting the car on traditional jack stands in an effort to let the wheels spin. If someone could chime in, I'd appreciate it. (but yes, on these ramps, not possible. UNLESS I use a bottle jack and lift it up) |
