Headlamp Vertical Aim Control Malfunction- Help

X3MC is just over 2K miles. Got the below pictured warning tonight out of no where.

Searched high and low for a solution. Some seem to say this can happen after suspension work is done on the car. I haven't had that. What gives?

Anyone have an answer or direction to point me in? (Other then going to service center)

Cheers

Could be this sensor on the d/s control arm, which determines the headlight level based on suspension height. Actual sensor is just to the right of the red circle.

And just like that… the warning/malfunction is gone this morning. Always going to be expecting it to come back until I can get it checked out though. Feels like only a matter of time.

Allinon- thanks for the response and photo. That type of tinkering is just out of my comfort zone. Going to leave it for the pros

I was driving (LCI X4MC) last night and noticed my headlamps did not project nearly as far as they normally do. I then get in my car this morning to see the same error. I also did not have any suspension work on my car, although it was in service twice in the past month, 1st to replace 2 tires with nails in them and an oil leak and 2nd to fix a the charge pipe that fell off.

Did your error ever come back, and did you end up fixing this or bring to your service center? I really don’t want to go back there but I will if I have to.

Thanks in advance.

Never came back. Had the headlights and the computer checked out and they had no answers other than bring it in if the error message comes back on. At 9k miles now no issues like that since

I had a couple of odd issues like this pop up too. Could have been a loose sensor that managed to pop itself back into place?

I brought the car to the dealer yesterday. They found my ride height sensor to be faulty. They are replacing it now, so hopefully that fixes it.
