2019 X3 different modes Eco Pro, Comfort or Sport
What are the ideal driving conditions to put the vehicle in Eco Pro or comfort or sports mode.
Does it help to drive in Eco Pro mode and how can you set it to default. Thanks |

I'm not sure if there are any ideal conditions for the modes. Common sense must prevail when driving (depending on the conditions). Each to their own, but I only drive in Eco Pro when I'm low on fuel (on vapours) and on my way to the fuel station. I find the gains minimal when driving in Eco Pro so don't bother.
I drive in comfort most of the time, Sport mode when I feel like pushing on, or when I want to overtake or leave someone at the lights Eco Pro can be a little unresponsive, comfort will move when you bury your foot past the point of resistance and Sport is lively as you'd expect. |

Dude man, pick the mode that suits your fancy. No right or wrong.
You can set your default mode using BimmerCode

I mostly drive my 20d in comfort and my average fuel consumption is 7.4l/100 km. As an experiment i drove 1 week in Eco Pro and i was amazed to find out after 1 week that my fuel consumption improved to 6.6l/100 km that week.
Alot of the gains come from the coasting i believe. What also improved my economy was the fact i used ACC alot less than usual. I think this also improves economy as driving manualy you anticipate alot more than the ACC does. I left the ECO driving after 1 week because i feel this is no good for the DPF as you are running low RPM all the time. |

My standard is Sport for responsiveness. Comfort is for long highway trips, rougher roads, or bad weather (times when faster throttle response = unintended wheel spin). Eco mode is for whe I'm bored and want to see just how far I can coast.

Had my X3 for a little over a year now. Never even tried any of the Eco modes and do about 95% of my driving in Sport and the other 5% in Sport+.

I use Eco sometimes when using ACC on the motorway (highway), it's not somewhere I try to enjoy my driving.
On local roads I've tried ECO with the shifter in Sport, this feels more like Comfort or better, I suppose it'll freewheel so that's useful. Much of the time when off motorways though I use Sport Plus.

I drive an M40i so maybe that's why i cant relate but.....I can't for the life of me understand why anyone would buy a BMW and drive it in comfort or, may god have mercy on our souls, eco mode. if you really want to drive like that why didn't you buy a prius? it's an entirely different car in these modes and not in a good way. sure it's painfully slow but it's also disconnected and floaty. when I'm on really bad roads I put it in adaptive. and I have issues getting it to change dynamic settings but I still suffer thru that because for me it's that big a deal.

I don't get these statements like "why buy a Bmw and then drive it in eco mode". WTH? You can't get a luxury car and drive it the way you want (economically in the case of eco mode)?
To the question - I mostly drive in Adaptive, as it it more comfy than comfort and less sporty as sport modes. Sometimes I switch to Eco, mainly on highways, but also on some backroads. Don't like it in the city driving, but might give it a chance with the shifter to the left, as suggested by someone here. Mind you I live in a flat country, roads are quite straight. I drive xdrive 30i.

I am a new owner of a 2019 BMW X3 sDrive30i. I only drove it 100 miles and I noticed wobbles when car driving at low speed and in Comfort mode. It feels fine in Sports mode. It is like driving a car in a higher gear at low speed. Does anyone else feel it?
