M X3 M40i is Phytonic Blue and no regrets. My wife's X3 30i is Mineral White Metallic, which I also like but no way we were getting the same color. For my own cars, I've had a lot of silvers and grays, and have never owned or wanted to own a car with a black exterior. Go with your gut but since it's only for 3 years it will be fine either way!

I agree! If it takes this long to consider, with many inputs from fellow forum members, and OP is still hesitant to decide on the Phytonic Blue, then it is certainly not a color for him.

Alpine White it is!

I’ve gotta say... it does look good in white! I can imagine that with black interior, or Fiona Red/Black Merino - nice!

I’m not a fan of coloured cars. I went for black sapphire and have no regrets. It looks superb when it’s clean and it also looks good when dirty. I had a black F31 335d which looked quite dull when it was dirty, so it’s odd that the X3 wears dirt well? It was a concern, when ordering the X3 as I had resigned myself to washingit regularly to keep it looking good, but as it looks cool dirty, I now have less incentive to wash it as much.

My other colour choices would have been Carbon Black (because it looks almost black - I had an F10 530d MSport in it and it looked awesome) or Alpine White.

I went out on a limb and ordered PB sight unseen. All my previous cars have been silver, grey or black, so PB was outside my norm. Just saw an X5 in PB and gasped (not a good gasp)! Mind you, it was parked in a dark parking lot (overhead lights) and dirty, so I’m hoping I didn’t make a mistake! As soon as I saw it, it reminded me of this!

I just ordered a phytonic blue m40i over black leather with blue stitching and brushed aluminum. As usual the bmw color options inside and out are a bit more limited than other manufacturers. I wish they had a medium gray like space gray or donington. But I do like phytonic quite a lot and it’s selling well according to my CA. At certain times it has a very unique dark royal blue look. The lack of an upgrade leather options is another huge miss by bmw USA. The sq5 and glc43 can be bad with nappa etc.

My last 4 BMW's all coupes ,335's/435/440 have been Jet Black, White, Mineral Grey and Alpine White again. Wanted something totally different this time around. Ordered a X4M40I in Flamenco red with Cognac and Carbon fiber trim. I know this color is not available on the X3 or any other BMW for that matter. I wanted something exclusive this time. I hope I am happy with it. I have only seen the color once in the last 6 months. Getting delivery in the next few days and can't wait.

Under certain lighting conditions, PB will look like that old Dodge truck.
I got my 2018 M40i in PB. I liked it for a few months, but grew tired of the fact that many times, it didn't look good to me. And yes, I always keep my vehicles immaculate.
On my current 2019 M40i, I ordered my favorite color, Alpine White and have never regretted it once. Timeless classic look.
You just can't beat it!

That’s unfortunate ( for me)! I’ll have to live with it for 4 years, so I’ll have to grow to like it.

I definitely love my PB X3. IMO the color when with sunlight reflects a true blue color, when dark a kind of a deep blue shade. I like the versatility of it and how the details stand out.

No regrets, 18 months in and I still like it. It will never be as all over bright as that Dodge Ram posted above. Even in full sunlight there are dark, almost black portions of the vehicle.

I like the variations of color depending on the light. I ordered the Mocha seats and oak trim, and it all goes together very well. The lighter brown leather was not to my liking and I figured it would show more dirt compared to the dark likewise for shades of black. I live in the country with a long gravel road & PB does show the dust & mud, but not like black would.
Overall I'm very happy with the car. I just turned 15,000 miles since picking it up on 9/28/19. So no more break-in!!

I'm buying PB and considering the question of cognac vs. mocha. I've got it down to the beverage-colored interiors, but still struggling with the decision between caffeine and alcohol (as I often do).

I'm Phytonic with oyster and love it. If i could spec the car again it'd be exactly the same, but i'd consider replacing the aluminium rhombicle with the open pore (matt) wood.

I hope I don't regret it! Just bought a 2020 Phytonic Blue. I must say, I've always been pleased that BMW "invests" in some good blues. Mercedes does one every few years if we're lucky. How long was Lunar Blue the default? BMW seems to know that people LOVE blue!

Still Loving our X4 in phytonic and beige 6 months later. Get lots of complements. The beige is easy to keep clean and it doesn't show dust like the ubiquitous black.

I think it's the better of the colour choices. Every car you see on the road today is either black, white or silver.

Photonic Blue is just different and it's no better or worse than any other colour for keeping clean.
