Do you mean your car wasn't fitted with TPMS from the factory?

In which case, does it have the receiver(s) for the TPMS system?
The TPMS sensors send a signal, there must be something which receives that signal. Do you know if your car has that?

Perhaps the clue is on the picture... “Made in UK”.... where it should actually say.... “Copied in China”...or perhaps Crap from China... I’ll let you know how I make out with real Schraders from Rock Auto....

Like me, they are probably adding to a second set of wheels...instead of having to clear the error on start-up...

My friend bought a 2019 M40i last Nov...he did not install TPMS on the rim...and has to clear the fault each time....I don't want to do that...So figured they were needed.

I don't even know if our X6M and F25 have TPMS in the wheel...on our winter rims...but have never had a fault light...and they complete the pressure relearn procedure...

Earlier versions of TPMS used the ABS sensors (and steering angle) to calculate wheel speeds and establish when a tyre had significantly deflated. Much simpler system and therefore pretty reliable. The good old days.

As verysideways pointed out, believe you need the receivers for that to work, otherwise only pressure would be available via the old abs sensor route, but even that will not give you pressure per wheel but rather if the tire is simply losing pressure

Winter boots with the Schrader TPMS installed, are now fitted to the vehicle....

Vehicle noticed the change and the reset to 100% was easy...

Normal service restored....
