Light mods for my 18 m40i
Howdy,
I was running through some pictures and found that I had not posted pics of the light mods I made to the rear of my car. This is my Canvasback cargo cover when I first installed it. I have since installed the side covers as well. GREAT STUFF. We installed plaid covers in the wife's 2019 SQ5 and it looks amazing (note to self: post a pic!) With the seats down, seat covers extended over the top of the seats, and the bumper guard deployed! Here are the lights I installed in the sides. They are 1W Cool White flush-mount LED lights from Oznium. Drill a hole, install, wired to the (useless) lights that are already in the corner pillar so they turn on when you'd expect them to. Right side Left side I then installed four 3W lights (also from Oznium...just large size) onto the boot and wired into the light there. Two on the edge of the boot so they shine out and illuminate behind the car. Two facing down so they illuminate directly behind the car Great for camping! This is a RAM Mount that I installed along with a Schoshe MagicMount Qi Phone charger that allows 15W charge. I have the wireless charger but since it is PURE GARBAGE AND COMPLETELY USELESS...I had to install this if I ACTUALLY wanted to charge my phone. Also...you can see where I installed the remote for the Radar Detector right under the dash. Notice in this pic and the one above that I installed blue LED into the bottom of the cup holders. I installed a resistor inline so the lights are EXTREMELY low brightness and very subtle when empty and then make a water bottle GLOW when placed in the holder. Pretty cool effect! Here are the links so you do not have to ask! One more mod - painting the brace
You know you hate the ugly silver brace in the engine compartment. It just looks out of place.
So, I painted both matte black using Rustoleum High Heat black paint. I think it looks pretty good. Paul |

A little slippery but better than the plastic Weathertek cargo cover.
I installed because I wanted to protect since I haul nasty stuff (dead bodies like Ray Ray Donovan) and doggies. It does pretty well there. Paul |

Yes...BMS intake.
Eh. Who knows. To me it is an invisible and unnecessary change. But, I bought it so I put it in. Specifically, I left it in once during BMW service and they wrote me the riot act and specifically said that I am voiding my warrantee. Yup. So I remove when I bring it to them. One more free service and then it stays permanently. Some say the turbo whooosh is good. I am deaf and cannot hear anything. Paul Last edited by Jeepersjoey; 03-28-2020 at 03:41 PM.. |

hmm i got bms intake on my 4 series coupe...i was enjoying very nice " whooosh" sound inside cabin.
My friend installed same BMS on his X6....and absolutely no sound inside in cabin. I guess g01 also have strong sound deadening inside as any X series. damn man....can't believe it. |

General rule of thumb is that in order to see gains from intake or exhaust, you need to do both. Opening intake needs additional opening of the exhaust or gains are minimal. It might sound nice but it won't add HP on its own.
