Today, 17th August, the status is "at the dealership". I called my CA and was told that it hadn't arrived yet and that the ETA was Monday, 20th August. He said that sometimes when a vehicle leaves the factory, the status incorrectly changes to "at the dealership".

I ordered the vehicle on 17th July. "Entering assembly line" occurred on 13 August. Status had been at "production begins" for about two weeks prior to that. I saw none of the statuses intermediate to those I've mentioned. My dealer is in the Dallas-Ft Worth, Texas, USA area.

On order:
2019 xDrive30i
Dark Graphite Metallic/Black Vernasca Leather (I know, but I LIKE dark colors )
Luxury Line
Executive Package
Premium Package
Convenience Package
Luxury Package
Driving Assistance Package
Driving Assistance Plus Package
Harmon Kardon surround sound
Front ventilated seats
Rear manual side window shades
Runflat tires
This is very much like what happened so far with my order.

I ordered on 7/22. Car went 150 on 8/3. There was no progress indicated on the web site and completion was to have been 8/13. That skipped to 8/16 at which point the VIN was decode-able online.

Today, suddenly, the car was released to carrier and the dealer says its due here on Boston on 8/20.

Fast, but inconsistent.

My wife's 2018 30i had a smoother gestation. I ordered it on 2/27 and it arrived on 3/29. The old website tracked its progress much more accurately than my M40i.

I see in your photo a rectangular area where the strut base would mount to the cover like it is on the 2018. I don't see any mounting screws that would attach the strut base to the cover on my 2018. Maybe it just gets pressed into the cover?
Below are 2 photos showing where the parts are located on the 2018's.
I don't see the small hole in the cargo trunk floor where the small pin would go through to attach to the body of the vehicle. Maybe the hole is still under the cargo trunk floor to place the blind rivet nut and ball pin so the gas spring can attach to it?
It looks like the flat surface on the lid was actually covered over with a felt sticker (you can actually pull it off), but you're right.. I don't see a hole in the bottom to mount anything.

I finally got access to the owner's manual. Luckily it is possible to secure the cover, though the method is not as nice as the strut. The cover is now attached using the multi-function hook.

Here's a screen shot of the replacement for the MY18 cargo cover arm.

I remember the first time I saw a G01 in a dealership. When I saw the shock-stayed cover I thought, "Whoa! That's nice BMW really pays attention to the details and delivers premium features for the price". I kid you not; this was part of my decision to buy an MY18 30i.

Disappointed.

Question Information/opinions needed.

There are two X3's I have been looking at.

Option 1:

https://www.bmwsouthpoint.com/new/BM...69b08adc4a.htm

Option Two:

https://www.bmwsouthpoint.com/new/BM...3e67771d43.htm

Option 1 is definitely better equipped sans only hifi stereo vs H/K in option 2. Both are similarly priced and I am getting about $6k in incentives.

Help me decide.

Probably a MY2018. Or a 30i?

So the sDrive models went into production early in the spring for their 2019 model run and have almost been treated like a separate model in terms of 18/19 transition. If you look at the build date on the door jamb sticker, it will probably be prior to the actual MY2019 switchover that happened at the end of July. I would bet the new sDrive models probably dropped that strut too.

Yeah, my husband and I have a 2016 X3. Before we ordered our 2019M40 ( vin decoding shows built yesterday), we went and drove the 2018. We were also impressed with the hydraulic bar (which we don’t have ).Oh well. We have opened that compartment just a handful of times in 3 years.

That’s a tough choice. For me, the oyster seats are a definite no. Before I bought my M235 convertible I test drove and almost bought one with oyster seats. I researched keeping them clean, and it seems that when wearing dark jeans, people have had issues with the blue dye staining the leather. I didn’t want to risk it and chose dark seats. I have never had light seats though, so not speaking from my personal experience.
Good luck

I’ve had oyster and ivory white interiors and never had issues with dirt or stains. They are real sharp looking interiors.

You're apparently not one of the "in crowd".

Raw selvedge jeans will almost certainly put blue markings on oyster and canberra beige. Selvedge is a more durable (and currently very popular) form of denim, but one issue that the raw/unwashed form often stains (just do a google search for "selvedge jean staining"). (For some reason, raw/unwashed jeans are very popular with the hardcore demin heads, who'll often refuse to wash them, so as to preserve the look) So, if you carry younger people with selvedge jeans, you might get stains.

Hmmm....
Yes, BMW should not have removed the gas strut, but it looks like it's prepped for an aftermarket mod. Remove the felt patch from the cover, cut a bit of felt off the floor, glue in the aftermarket brackets, and attach the aftermarket gas strut. Should be pretty simple.

That stuff bleeds on all leather colors, I even saw it when I had a coral red interior. Lexol wipes should take care of most stuff like that.

I had a sweatshirt that used to leave blue stains on my armrest when I had Z4 with ivory interior, and would hit the armrest with a lexol wipe once a month or so.

Can you spot any other differences? I'm waiting for my delivery and this change is a little bit disappointing. It will be very generous of you to extend current list of updates in other thread: https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1501600

Silly question but did they remove the fragrance control from the 2019? I did not see it listed as an option anymore....

Earlier today, I unhooked the gas strut from the floor cover and removed the cover from the car to have a closer look at the strut mounting plate. The strut plate is mounted to the cover using 4 studs that appear to have carpenters glue holding the mounting plate to the cover. I tried prying the plate off the floor cover but the glue is strong enough that the studs are starting to pull the particle board (that's what the floor cover is made of) with them. Didn't want to pull the entire plate off as huge holes would be left behind. Since it doesn't look like the strut plate can be purchased separately, (it must come glued to the entire black cover for about $300), plus the gas strut, 1 blind nut and 2 pins, to me, it's not worth buying (total about $350) for the 2019 X3.

I attached a few photos of the mounting plate and where the body mounted strut pin is located.
