Curious if anyone knows how strictly they follow the rules on the Costco rebate. The Costco website says must be a costco member prior to July 5.

Mine switched to "Dispatched" yesterday and arrived at the dealer this morning. Hope to pick it up Thursday or Friday!

Hey Gang,

Finally, I have a VIN and production commenced today! Can't wait to take delivery at the PDC on Sept. 7th.

Question: does anyone know if the 2019 front footwells are of same exact dimension as the 2018? I would like to order and take with me to SC WeatherTech floor liners for the front, to put in the vehicle before I depart. Don't want to soil the new carpeting on our long drive home to Ohio, especially since we are taking a few extra days to make it home. I would assume they are the same, but WeatherTech does not have the 2019 X3 as a selection yet.

Yes, the 2018 mats will fit a 2019 -- no changes in that area.

Another twist... mybmw say the car is at the dealer, but the dealer just called to tell me they have no idea why it says that as the car has actually not been delivered to them yet.

Hi HollyM - I'm pursuing a 2019 build and thinking of taking the delivery at PDC too. One of the dealers mentioned to me about it, didn't know about such a thing until then honestly. Sounds like a great experience.

I joined this forum just a couple of days back. Are there any of your previous posts or any other links that has information on taking delivery at PDC ? Appreciate any pointers. THANKS !

They seems to be backing up. I have been sitting at "Production Begins" for 7 days with a date of completion of 8/16 (Week 33). today that changed to 8/20 (Week 34)

The vin decoder shows they are doing about 40 or so cars a day (maybe is was a bit higher but I recall it seemed pretty low) and last one reported this morning was 0Z03101, now they are at 0Z03104 (7 hours later). I am 0Z03265.

Just an Fyi that dates may slip...

Even though you might think they are built in the sequence of VIN's. They build them in batches of the same exterior color. So unless 25 (example) of them are in Alpine White, even though a VIN will fall between the 25, if it isn't white, it's not getting done in that batch.

Gotcha. I tried about 30 different random numbers between the last one I found and mine and all were not found. Guess I just have and luck....

Correct.

My car, 0Z03114. was supposed to be complete this past Monday, 8/13. It slipped to tomorrow, 8/16 and today, finally, the progress indicator on the website picked up a few dots.

Waiting is agony. The irony is I'll be in Spartanburg at the end of the month for a one-day class, just when my car should arrive here for delivery.

Can I ask you experts what type of documents I need before putting the $1K deposit down on a custom order?

I've never ordered a car before and my experience has gone like this so far:

Dealer 1 - Sent me a purchase order with MSRP, discount, dealer fee and incentives. Detailed specs are not listed, but maybe this isn't a big deal due to MSRP being listed?

Dealer 2 - Tells me to send the $1K first! Claims he went to general manager to get %off approved and "their reputation speaks for itself". Offers a slightly bigger discount than dealer 1, however, dealer processing fee is higher and the end result is only a few hundred cheaper. In any event, nothing is on paper! It may be legit and he's guarding against me bringing that offer to the previous dealer...IDK

I'm basically writing dealer #2 off even though they are a huge and seemingly reputable dealership. The send first thing is really rubbing me the wrong way(and I would never do it). I'd appreciate any thoughts on the situation and how to proceed with dealer #1. Thanks!

Neither is really acceptable, IMHO:
  • First of all, you need to know what you're getting, beforehand. MSRP isn't enough. You need a list of the base car spec/price (there are multiple tiers), plus any additional-cost options. Note that some options require ordering other (prerequisite) options, and so these options can quickly add up. Go to the BMW USA website, and build your car using the options you want. Make sure you understand the options (many salespeople don't), such as ordering the ventilated seats deletes the adjustable side bolsters, the trailer hitch deletes the hatch kick-to-open feature, etc.. If you want to be OCD anal about this, look at the 2019 buying guide sticky at the top of this forum, which lists the option numbers, the availability (some options are mutually exclusive), and the prerequisite options. The buying guide isn't comprehensive, but it's probably as close as you'll get without playing "20 questions" on this forum.

  • Unless deposits are common in your area, I'd avoid dealer #2. When I ordered my car (California), my dealer didn't ask for any deposit. (I was willing to put down a deposit, but they didn't ask, and I didn't offer.)

I'm not crossing any fingers or toes or saying any prayers related to this car today! If it shows up, it shows up!

Just checked. Last VIN on mdecoder was 0Z03135 so they are moving slowly....I could not find anything past that and the colors were different so not sure if the comment on batching colors is correct or if they are going in order...

Regardless, based on current velocity, and assuming the information is current, I expect the dates to slip again.....That is unless they pick up production speed

How are you seeing what they're up to on mdecoder? Just trying VINs?
