Temperature X3 35i

Is my 2012 X3 35i running too cold?

The temperature gauge can only reach to 1/4 mark after reaching normal operating temperature( 30 mins driving)

All my other BMW that I had (e30, e46, e39, e91) they all reached half mark after 5-10 mins drive.
and the X3 took a while(30min) to reach to the 1/4 mark

Also in the first few mins of driving, the transmission shift a bit rare.(little hard to drive smoothly, the shift point is very different)

Something I should look into it or it is normal?

BTW, it only has 44k miles.

Thanks in advance

Once warmed up, ours sits a tick below half way point on the temp gauge. Gets there within 5min (read it's hot as hell in California). I'm betting on a thermostat that's stuck open in your car.

As for less than smooth shifting on a cold transmission; sound about right. Plenty of threads on here about people flushing transmission/ diffs and it sounds like it makes the whole operation smoother, however it's 70-80k maintenance item. So at 45k it might be a bit too soon for it.

I'd look into the engine temp issue first and see if that also solves the transmission. Good luck!

^^^ Agreed w/ all the above.

I too see just under the mid point of the gauge, how long it takes to get there depends ont he weather but it's certainly never a half hour or more.

Our operates at just a bit below the middle. If your car isn't getting there after 20 minutes of driving in >60* weather, I'd wonder if you're having some thermostat issues.

Should linger around 240F (Oil temp). Does your F25 have an engine coolant gauge?
