Latest BMW X4 (F26) Prototype Pics, with a Look Against X3
BIMMERPOST NEWS Latest BMW X4 (F26) Prototype Pics, with a Look Against X3 Only 4 months remain until the production BMW X4 (F26) is introduced to the world at the 2014 New York Auto Show, making it 12 months between the concept first debuted at the Shanghai auto show and the production model debut next March. The X4 has now dropped most of its camouflage, exposing its front fascia design, as seen in the updated photos below. We have also reposted the fully revealed production X4 which was caught during a commercial shoot. Below are pics which also show the scale of the X4 compared to the X3, with which it shares a platform. Their exteriors may be different, but they share virtually the same interior styling, while the X4 should have a less spacious rear passenger compartment. The US will receive the X4 in 28i (240hp 2.0L N20 engine) and 35i models (300hp 3.0L N55 engine). It's possible that the X4 could be offered in sDrive and xDrive for the 28i model and xDrive for the 35i model. A recent report suggests that even if an X4 M model does not come, an M Performance diesel model is likely (though perhaps not for the US). |

I'm sorry, but the interior is a fail compared to the new design language BMW is rolling out over all F Series vehicles.

So now you have two BMW's that still have the "old" design but is going to be available in the next year or two? It's going to look so outdated.

It baffles me as to why BMW thinks we need something like this.
People who go for the X3 instead of the 3 series is because they need extra headroom and trunk space. So now they basically took what appeals to the average X3 buyer over the 3 series and removed it all calling it the X4. The X6 never sold well and didn't make sense but this is even worse. Alan

Like I said, I'd never buy one, but I understand why this exists.

i really wish the X3 has the same interior dashboard set up of the F15, because it looks gorgeous than the F25, IMO.

The interior design definitely looks more late-model E chassis than F chassis. Not sure whether that's good or bad, though, since I don't like the interior design interpretation in the F3x much at all. Setting aside points of reference to other BMW models, that looks like a nice interior to me, and it seems like a pleasant place to spend time.
I'm not opposed to the concept of the X4 at all. I like the X6, but it seems too expensive for what it is, to me. I don't like the proportions of the X3; it looks too cute from certain angles. If the X4 addresses both of these points, I could definitely see myself considering one.

What a letdown imo. I'd really like to see the F26 to have the LCI version of the X3 interiour. It might help it slightly. God knows it need it imo!

Lesser interior volume, same outdated interior at a higher price because it is a 4 and not 3.
BMW: "Everyone knows what it will look like but lets just put camo to get people excited and curious." This is like Apple...all the secrecy and they churn out the same phone design year after year and the sheep buy them. Prediction: New X6 will look similar to X4 exterior-wise, but with the X5 interior. But we need some camo to get excited and curious, please. |
