If he wants to modify his lease, how does that in any way impact you at all?

Well, that's just the thing. It doesn't.

I think they finally figured it out. Bummer, it really was entertaining lol

I second that it sounds good.

My only complaint is not enough videos and sound clips 🤣

Haha thanks guys. Just for that, I'm gonna go and record some drive sequences from inside and outside (from the perspective of old people, children and pets taking a stroll) of the vehicle.

Ok, l'm going to meddle in to show merit on both side as highlighted, without trying my best to show personal bias. Consider it for your entertainment, with a conscience. I am going to use Jay as the example here. Keep in mind the goal of this post is to entertain while advocating responsible citizenship.

On the one hand, there are those who advocate that respecting the law should be followed for the greater good, which is indeed the whole point of having laws to begin with. In this case, Jayf30 is leasing the car which means he signed up a contract with bmw/dealership that he will not make any modifications on the vehicle. In making the modification he has breached contract law, for which he can be found liable (if he is found liable, which most likely won't be the case because dealership don't really care, which is another story). Then there is the fact that some of the guys here are arguing that in principle, breaching the contract willingly is an act of citizen irresponsibility that could lead to public disturbance et al. Now if Jay's neighbor do indeed find it annoying and complain to the police, and say because of he's "illegal" mod he might have to pay a fine and revert back to stock as the mods are for his own personal enjoyment and not for the greater good (as it creates more noise, which could affect J's neighbors). I am surprised that Cali has relaxed stance when it comes to being able to remove muffler given its well known strict noise/emission policies, which it seems are not really enforced. It seems like Europe emission standards are much stricter and cars need to be checked more often for noise/emission (even if new) and insurance company can refuse payment on the "illegal" mod car found in an accident. Not sure if Cali car insurance are as stringent in regards. Now, such willingness of breaching contract is said to be cause for citizen irresponsible behavior, which the guys at the forum are inferring that J will have more propensity of breaking the law in the future as he "has gotten away with it" and had a taste of being an "outlaw". It could mean for instance that J determined that the current enforced lockdown (if there is such thing in Cali) might not really be applicable to him because of excuse X and Y and simply goes to the beach and have picnic with his friends. He thinks his action do not have dramatic consequences, which could be true or not. The point is that he broke the law by leaving his premises when he was told he couldn't. Hopefully that won't be the case, right Jay? However, how many of us can say that we have respected all laws to the T? How often have we sped on highways, far more than the lawful speed limit?

On the other hand, it is on lessee and lessor to enforce the contract that they entered into. I'm quite aware that in this case, dealerships hardly ever enforce their own contract as they rather close an eye to ensure more car sales or leases, because that is the key metric. Nobody cares in what condition leased car returns, as long as there no really visible issues. So the failure for enforcing the contract allows for peeps like Jay to do as they please with their not-owned leased cars, without considering potential buyers down the road. Is that fair? Is life fair? Such is the world we live in. Do we live life on a slippery slope? Perhaps. Enjoy LOL.

Also, for curiosity sake and since the deed is done, let's hear that sound!

Unfortunately, not. I've been going to beaches with friends, attending house parties with 50+ people (all individually from different households), coughing on gas pump nozzles, etc.

Maybe I'll reschedule tomorrow's activity: "Lick produce at grocery store". Then I can finally get around to filming these drive sequences. Tough choice tho as I sure love breaking laws

Lmao, the demographics of "owners" in this forum is hilarious. Pseudo car-enthusiasts talking about subject matter they know so little about.

Take a stroll into all the M forums of Bimmerpost and you'll see tonnes of modified and leased $100k+ M cars with tens of thousands in mods thrown at them. People do it all the time, and dealerships generally don't give a shit either barring some major obvious issues (ie. an aftermarket tune leading to engine trouble).

Dealers don't care because they know these cars are:
1. Not property of the dealership, in fact owned by the financing company
and
2. A vast majority just go to auction and not back on the dealership's lot.

@jayf30 Get the damn videos up

I say many of the forum members of X3 are more family-oriented people vs M cars who prob tend to be single/not married and dont have a family and spend a lot of their income in mods LOL. There are many posts in X3 forums stating how people are trading in their M cars for X3s or how the guys have to run it by their wives before a mod and then say that they did it anyways without asking LOL. It is a different demographic for sure. Let us keep our heads clear and keep it respectful. I mean an X3 is mostly associated with soccer mom/ family man image anyhow... so yea having a muffler delete and do performance mods on it is a bit off. Simply stating an observation and keep it into perspective. I welcome this one-off muffler delete for difference sake.

I’m here to resurrect this thread and bring it back to the rightful topic: exhaust mods. If increased volume is the goal, why do a resonator delete instead of a muffler delete. Someone suggested that as the way to go if you had to choose just one. Wouldn’t you do a muffler delete and leave the resonator so you get more volume but maintain less drone? I thought a resonator’s job is to clean up drone and raspiness.

Thanks for bringing this back to life - some hilarious flaming happening in here. So many more crotchety old dudes in this forum than I expected.

Jayf30 What ever happened to the car? Did you have to pay for a full exhaust install on your lease return?
