I'm a week 20 build and currently status 112. I was notified today that wireless charge is again available to add to builds and am wondering if its worth it to add it for the $500. This seems like a simple retrofit by just buying the oem wireless charger correct? Just looking for some input. Thanks!

Not worth it to me. It's a phone warmer that maintains your charge at best.

Mine didn't come with it due to the chip shortage but I've seen other posts saying that the phone overheats on the wireless charger.

I had it in a 2021 loaner X3M for 3 weeks and I agree with this assessment. Phone heater that keeps the charge where it's at. Only a wire will actually charge your phone

I’d have if it it’s included as it’s standard spec in the Uk, however I would never pay for it

I have a MY2021 with wireless charging and it works as expected. I use an Android phone without any overheating problems, so dunno why others are having problems.

Since the wireless charger is back, does that mean the digital key is standard now?

Maybe it's an iPhone issue then…

This is a fairly easy retrofit though correct? I have no problem adding it myself for the cost of the OEM part over the order price of $500. Unless BMW has updated/upgraded the part I dont see any savings ordering it now prior to production. Thoughts? (Wirelss charge debate aside)

I am also in Status 112 for a week 20 build. I looked for the wireless charger option and didn't see it. Perhaps we are getting different cars? Mine is a X4 MC for the US market. Yours?

In my current ride, I use an after-market wireless charger which hold my Android phone via a magnet. Works great and no warming issues. I'll probably just transfer that setup to the new car. An advantage of my setup is that I can easily glance at the phone screen while driving (don't touch - but it is OK to look, right?)

It's not the best charger but it's convenient to just throw it in there while driving somewhere.

Don’t even retrofit. Just get a plug in wireless charger. I snagged this one - didn’t even use the adhesive. Popped in. Has 10W charging instead of the 5W of the built in.
$96. Ships on the slow boat so take a couple of weeks to get here though.

Does anyone know the OEM retrofit part or have a pic of the OEM part installed?

iPhones are terrible, never get one. I used my wireless charger all the time in my 2020 X3MC and loved it. Was nice that my phone fit on the charger too as I have a rather large phone that doesn't fit on all of them.

This is the one I use. IPhone 13 Pro Max fits as does the Samsung S21 Ultra. It fast charges and adds a usb power port. Does not block factory USB port.

Mine just went status 150. I ordered the OEM wireless charger part from bmwpartsworldwide(dot)com for $180 as I want to keep everything OEM. And Ive got an Android phone. Apparently iphones dont charge well w the OEM solution. Wirelss charging is slow but its nice to have so I may do a writeup when I do my retrofit.

Yes, I have this one in my '22 and I really like it. It looks like it belongs there. My iPhone does get a little warm on it. It really looks OEM. IMO
