Changed oil and air filter...
I use Amsoil 0w40 European Classic

Air filter on these turbo cars have to be changed every 10~15,000 km, so to me I'll replace them every year (or on every second oil change)

Mounted on winter tires on stock 18" rims...

Shop tried to sell me a cabin filter. I replaced the cabin filter myself last month...... not impressed.

Let us know how it goes...when the temp dips...tried 0W40 LL01 Equiv in an E90....had to drop it..noisy lifters was the result.

I now use 5/30 LL04 Equivalent in a E90 (323i) and my 2013 X6M...and will switch over a 2015 X3 now it's off the free maint....

It goes well, I always use 0w40 on all my cars. I change oil 2-3 times a year (2 on the X3 for summer and for winter) and 3 on the 135i (because racing, twice in the summer).

My N52 E90 sometimes experienced the noisy lifters too, maybe every three months or so, so 3-4 Times a year I had to perform a lifter bleed... holding 2500rpm for a minute. Problem solved. That's common in the N52, not on any other engine

Just bought a pre-owned 2016 X3 35i. I updated the maps in navigation to 2019-1, added a Max Liner cargo liner, and OEM all weather floor liners in front and rear.

New owner here. I bought a 2012 X3 35iX at the end of October. It's a really clean Alpine White III with only 57k miles on it at purchase. It has the premium, cold weather and cold weather II packages as well as nav and some now defunct BMW connected features. I've just done some basic maintenance so far; front wipers, air, cabin and recirc filters. I bought a Valeo rear wiper but for some reason it doesn't mount correctly.

Installed SYLVANIA H7 SilverStar zXe Headlight Bulbs. My x3 needed a new low beam bulb. I replaced both. Much brighter than previous bulbs

Repaired the taillight with a new LED driver. I could not find one thing wrong with the original LED driver but likely the voltage regulator was bad.

I had EBT coded in although i still can't stream audio
I've tried three different phones and they all only recognise the car as a headset as opposed to a speaker

57,000kms / 6 years on N20 xdrive X3:

oil and filter
brake fluid flush
cabin and air filters
spark plug and coil packs - mostly preventative/maintenance at this point.

what was interesting: I believe the spark plugs and coil packs are the same specs across a number of engines. On our other 2011 X3 N52 it was misfiring and the spark plugs were in rough shape @ roughly same mileage. I wonder what was different with the N20 that it was not so bad (darkened housing, but not burnt and cruddy like the ones we pulled out of our N52). My wife does beat on this N20 though, primarily city driving and is running a tuning module.

what was surprising: oil was seeping beneath the engine cover and found in random places around the engine and ancillaries. My mechanic is indicating valve cover replacement will be required eventually (not just the valve cover gasket). This is common? I am searching through F30post and this X3 forum right now for some details, but not so much information available it seems. Right now it's not that bad apparently as I have not had to top up oil between changes.

BMW Kayak Rack

I purchased a kayak rack, so I can get to some favorite spots when the water warms a bit. This rack attaches to the factory crossbars. We still have snow on the ground, but in my mind it is already Spring

60,000 KM.... thought about getting rid, but will ride out and sell summer 20.

Between now and then have to decide if our BMW years are about to come to an end....starting with the X3 run about.

This whole timing chain saga and no recall has me questioning the company... which for the last 20+ years, I have had no personal issues with.
