Whistling sound from engine. Loose belt?
Started hearing this sound coming from engine. Sounds like a belt is loose perhaps? If so, can I adjust it myself or need replacement?

Detension belt and remove; examine the belts condition. It's a bit tight working space but you can remove belt without pulling the fan.
Spin the idler pulleys by hand- grasp and check each idler for wobble/play. If they don't spin smooth and freely and/or there is noticeable 'play' then replace. Good luck/Bill Last edited by Wgosma; 12-07-2018 at 03:21 PM.. |

But in order to remove the belt, I have to loosen the Pulley beforehand? Pop open the cover on the pulley, loosen the bolts and remove both pulley and the belt? On my old car, an Audi A3 1.8TQ, it was only pushing a lever down and insert the new belt... that was easy... |
