S15A-20-03-540, so 03/2020... My Build date is 9/16/19.
Does this mean it's likely been updated once?

My build date was Oct 7, 2019 and it shipped with S15A-19-07-553. This was probably the same version your car was built with given you were built in Sept.

So yes your vehicle has been updated since it left the factory.

We had some recalls around that time which required updates. The version you are on now is in between the ones below.

S15A-19-11-540

S15A-20-07-555

Typically istep updates are March, July, November ish. in a given year.

No problem.

I'm on S15A-21-03-535

Did the update to get full screen car play and the other driving smoothness that came with it.

I have been slacking with the July and November update, no time to do these incremental updates. I'll most likely wait until March 2022 and do another update.

I assume these massive dynamic changes came in earlier versions than this November update and it's just impactful to me cause I was on a delivery iStep version.

Yes exactly, the March 2021 update enhancements were the drivers behind this thread.

It's really impressive what BMW achieves now with just software.
100% agreed. Ride and suspension are much better even with the shiitty continental set.

Original iStep 2019 11, current iStep 2021 11.

Thanks man that worked like a charm, I also found a section called Apple Enhancements that could be switched to "Aktiv" as well, any idea what that entails ?

While they replace the 48 Volts battery (LCI) they updated the software to 03/22

Haven't noticed any change yet except that all my BimmerCodes were wiped out

I wouldn't expect a difference, you have an lci so you already had most of the changes. But yes, every os update will wipe your coding.

I had success indicating my CarPlay was not constantly connecting (which it was not) and I understand the software update helped resolve.

I also noted my other issues (slamming in gear when going into reverse).

My dealer did not seem to have any issues with installing it. This is the second update I got so far but both seemed to take a lot longer than one would think.

The other option is to say you will pay for it but some even got rejected from that offer.

Tuned and Updated?

I hear it'll lock the dme and won't be able to tune anymore, (and anyone tuned will lose their tune) just like all the new models. However, I have a friend with mission tune and mission did the update and he still has the tune, he said they know a way to not lock the dme during the tune but only for mission tunes, anyone update with a bootmod3 tune?

CarPlay connectivity issues, which will be vastly improved with the update

I did notice a bug which appears to be Apple related.

In Spotify when you click play from the main screen it circles back to the main screen rather than playing. When you click it again it works.

I’ve had the same thing happen in 3 cars (2 are ID6, one is an aftermarket android head unit) so I think it is CarPlay related.

I agree though the connectivity issues with ID6 are hugely improved after this update.

Thank you OP for posting this.

I had my 2020 X3MC updated to S15A-22-03-520 and I felt a noticeable difference in the ride. Now I don't feel like I'm going to be flung out of the window while going over a speed bump.

The car is more of a pleasure to drive now.

I imagine the X3 has DHP with Air Suspension to have a noticeable shift in the ride post 3/22 update? Anything else noticed besides this on the update?

Thanks. Interesting that You noticed a difference in suspension post update. That's not something I would have expected a software update to tweak without dynamic dampers or air suspension.

The immediate difference I felt was when slowly going over a speed bump or curb at a slow speed. Before the update I felt like the car wanted to throw you out of the side windows, now it's much more compliant.

I can't comment on the higher speed handling, I didn't get a chance to really drive it without traffic.
