Yea, I gave it a long, hard thought. This is going to be my everyday ride, get me from point A to B, to and from work. Being in NJ, there's no getting anywhere fast, so I think the 28i will suffice.
Delivery will probably be sometime August, approximately three months' time. |

Sounds like Toronto traffic. For me the extra hp, is generally most needed when on hwy and there is a smaller gap in between cars that I would like to pass. Standout red stitching on white leather.

Exactly barcelona, $3k is a lot of money to pay for the privilege to pass the occasional slow car. The Turbo in the 2.0-liter should hopefully help me achieve the same.
0—60 mph in 6 seconds with the 28i, versus 5.2 seconds with the 35i. |

28i fine
Got 2013 x3 28i. Love it's performance around town and has no problem passing anyone under 60. Might find trouble passing traffic going 75 and up but think it could give a good run. Believe weight of X3 and X4 are same so should be a good comparison.

wow.. options all close to $60k for a v4?
$3k for much more powerful engine IS MUCH CHEAPER than $6k diff between 325i and 330i with 40hp back then.

A great write-up by The New York Times complimenting the N20 engine in the 528i from a couple years ago: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/08/12/au...ewanted=1&_r=0
Puts me at ease about the X4 xDrive28i. I'm not one of those gearheads obsessed with engine noise. Less engine noise, the better... but obviously not to the extent where it's completely silent, just enough for pedestrians to hear me approaching. Last edited by Yocal; 06-27-2014 at 06:27 PM.. |

Congrats, mine hasn't changed status. Where are you located? Mine is a maxed out 3.5 M line. Not sure if options are playing a factor in production start date

Just curious what you will run in the winter for tires since you have the 20" summer performance tires on it and you live back east in the snow. I'm trying to decide between 19" & 20". We live in a snowy region and I'm not sure I want to have two tire sets. I have a couple days left before I can't change anything in my order. Thanks! |

Hey Rizz, I don't think the rim/tire size has to match the performance sizes, unless of course, you're talking of a remount. I'm thinking I could go down to 19" for the winter, and I anticipate the cost to be in the $4k region for the rims+tires set i.e. I'm going to be "broke" for the foreseeable future.

Thanks Yocal! Broke but for a fun reason! I ordered the 19" with the all season tires thinking I could try that for the winter and then buy second set of 20" for the summer. But your build looks nice with the 20" and pictures I have seen of the 20s so I'm thinking of switching order and get the 20" on my build. I would have to buy the 19" and winter set up rightup right away. There weren't many options for a winter set up for the 20's and I wouldn't want to muck them up with winter gunk I don't think.
I may be joining you in the broke department shortly! Yours look great, can"t wait to see your photos when you get her! |
