X3 Key Fob Issue

I just bought a 2017 X3 with only 60k miles on it. I changed the batteries on both key fobs. One Fob works normally. When I tested the other Fob, it works to unlock the door, but when I go to start it…it says the remote is not detected. I’ve held the remote to the steering column to start the car. It works, but when I shut off the engine it says remote not detected again. Again, it does lock and unlock the car and the other Fob works fine. Any suggestions?

Thanks

From another car experience, I can say that if the Key Fobs were accidently placed in laundry washer/dryer sequence, then such abnormal behavior is noticed.

Swap the batteries and see if the problem stays with the battery. the available voltage may be just enough for some functions to be active
