Anybody regret Phytonic Blue?
Days away from ordering and undecided on exterior color.
I have almost always had white cars and love white. I was considering taking a break from white for Phytonic Blue in this case, but feel like I may get tired of a colored vehicle versus my trusty white. I would rarely ever consider a color of any type, but Phytonic Blue does seem like a very dynamic and interesting color. For what it's worth, the M40i looks killer in both PB and AW. AW is definitely the safe choice for me as I know I will still love it throughout my 3 year lease. PB probably shows dirt more and will undoubtedly show swirl marks more than white (that being said I am a careful detailer and plan to ceramic coat the car, so less of an issue but still not invincible). Also, the only PB I've seen was indoors (my local dealer has a display inside of our city airport and this is the only PB they have in stock. It does look darker indoors than the photos I've seen, assuming it will definitely become more of a medium blue in sunlight. Does anybody regret choosing PB?

Going for Glacier Silver myself, love the way it highlights the black trim pieces.

White does also have the same contrast with the gloss black and also has contrast with the cerium mirrors, badging and grill. I think white also looks cool with today's panoramic sunroofs as it has a two-tone contrast with black roof and white sides.

White BMW SUV are everywhere...Phytonic Blue is much more unique and I never get tired of looking at my own car. So, no regrets...
You probably have seen a recent thread about color already... Phytonic blue or dark graphite?? https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1572744 As I said there, the Cerium Grey trims look the best on the Phytonic Blue, unless you plan for changing out to gloss black trims than black trims look great on White. Another consideration, White is not metallic but Phytonic Blue is, which will give out different color effect under different lighting condition. Yet one more consideration, I really like and picked Cognac interior and I think it works best with Phytonic Blue too. If you happen to have your mind set on Black interior than White will be better. |

White...!! I've never understood people buying white cars - to me, it always looks like they cheaped out and could only afford the undercoat and not the colour coat...
(that's slightly tongue-in-cheek and not meant to offend anyone who likes to be invisible in heavy snow)

I don't regret it, but not completely happy with it. If I were to buy again I'd probably go white. It's just not as poppy as I'd like it to be. BMW has crap for colors on the X3. I came from a sepang blue S4, so the PB is just dull in comparison.
as noted above with the cleanliness of the colors. I just changed products and started using CarPro Ech20 wash with Hydr20 sealant and its made the PB look better than I thought possible (and rejects dirt and grime with unfathomable slickness). Might want to give that a shot. |

No regrets but would have preferred Vermillion Red if available.

I would love some colour choices that I wouldn’t buy a suit in. Red, Greens, Ruby, etc. There are hatchbacks available in 100’s of choices of paint.

My last three BMWs were Alpine White with M-sport package, and I loved the look and low maintenance (it hides scratches so well), but finally got bored with white. So I went Phytonic Blue with my M40i and have been super happy with it. It really pops in bright light and has a deep shine in other light. One thing I have found helpful with BMWs that have M-sport styling is to go with a color that contrasts nicely with the red tail lights and silver wheels. The choices that meet that criteria tend to show the lines and features of the car the best.

Except for losing my way last year, I've only owned white colored vehicles for my last 8 vehicles.
Last year I thought I'd try a color change and got a 2018 X3 M40i in Phytonic Blue. While it looked good for a couple of months, I regretted not sticking with white. Depending on time of day and viewing angle, the blue didn't look good to me. When the bright sun was on it's profile, it looked good. But sometimes it showed to much purple and didn't look good. Even though I keep my vehicles immaculately clean, the PB, while not as bad as black, showed dust/dirt way more than I was accustomed to seeing. Because of a problem with the 2018, BMW offered a repurchase (buyback), and I didn't question going back to my all time favorite white and ordered a 2019 X3 M40i. So if you normally like white (and it sure sounds like you do), then don't make a mistake like I did. Good luck. |

I am not a black or white car fan, so it was between grey, silver and blue for me - I went with phytonic blue and love it, but I am sure I would have been happy with grey and silver. My last X3, 2011 F25 was Deep Sea Blue which I also really liked - its a bit darker than Phytonic.

I love white cars and went AW...this vehicle looks great with it. The pearl white paint on my RX350 looks more expensive though. Definitely more depth and nuances with PB if that's your thing.
