Tyre wear at 6,000 miles
After 6,000 miles on the Bridgestone Alenza 21” tyres.
6mm remaining at front and 5mm remaining at rear. Based on that rears should do 12,000 and fronts about 16,000. |

Are you going to go without a spare? I would love to open up an already limited tire selection to more than RFT but I’ve never gone without a spare and I don’t know about the canned fix a flat option.

"Luckily, for drivers willing to step away from a run-flat tire, Continental offers a fantastic choice. Their ExtremeContact DWS (DWS for Dry, Wet and Snow) has been one of our highest rated Ultra High Performance All-Season tires for quite some time…"

Mine needed to be replaced 3K miles ago. I am going to push them another 1.5k and change all 4 at 18K.
If anyone knows of a better tire please let me know. It looks like the best deal is the same crap I have on the car now from tiretrack.com |

To be honest tire rack is best place to buy tires. They come with 2 year road hazard warranty for free.. nails etc they will send you a new tire at no extra cost. DWS is comparable to the PS4. I don't think they make a 21 in though. I have PS4 on my GLC 63. Greatest tire around but they come with a price tag. DWS being 900 or so for all 4 tire on the 20in whereas PS4 are 1300 for the set. I recently changed my front on my GLC and total was $860... lol I love the look of 21's but the cost is almost disgusting for 265 front and 295 rears. This X3m40i is for my wife so I chose to get 20's as she doesn't know the difference in tire noise, grip etc. Anyway I'm going Continental DWS or PS4. Both are great tires just depends if you wanna go the extra $$$ for the PS4. |

I’ve had the Conti DWS in the past and its a pretty good tire. I’d consider it when my Alenzas are worn. |

I'm at almost 7k and is showing millage to service 9k. My is set up for service intervals for 16k or 2years.
Back on subject, rear tyres wearing more in the middle, i have set it up for 2.4 psi on all 4 and see how it will go. Last edited by adam.b; 07-26-2019 at 06:26 PM.. |

I just came back from the dealer where I was informed to keep an eye on the tires (US). I have only a 6 months old, 4,500 miles on the M40i and they are all between 6mm and 7mm. Was informed these runflat (stock 20 inch Alenza, Bridgestone) come with 9mm from factory. Another reason why to get rid of them...

I went with Vredestein QUATRAC5's in OEM 20" size.
Can't comment on them much as I'm still in engine break in period so really haven't pushed them as far as performance grip is concerned. Also have not had any snow yet so no comments on that. These tires look to be some of the best of the best "all weather" tires, and what I can say so far is that the ride is MASSIVELY more comfortable than the horrible run flats, while steering reactivity and precision has not suffered one bit.

BMW should have put beefier tires on this thing anyway. That's one thing that'd make 'em last longer.
