The 2021 has the usb-c ports, I found it weird also how the 2020 had the standard USB ports although the regular x3 had usb-c.

A guess is the M division hadn't finished the iDrive 7 coding for the '20 model. It looks like the 21s got the whole mess at once, displays, iDrive 7, updated head unit, CD player deletion, usb-c, etc.

PS: I used my CD player on yesterday's trip. Part of the reason I went with a '20 model.

A better sounding music media than MP3 or streaming from Carplay, XM or wherever so still worth using. But I have and use all 3....

CDs can be recorded onto a usb flash drive using FLAC format, not the same as WAV or AIFF but pretty close. I have my entire collection of over 4000 cds on a hard drive, in AIFF, and whenever I want to play some in the car I convert to flac then usb FD.
