They complied with my request and did not install the software update even though it was specifically for a safety recall. So as far as I know, you can ask them not to install any new software updates when you bring your car in for service.
That's cool. Mine didn't give me an option.

1st. Yes you should lock your DME and flash to stock before going to dealer. Make sure you drive 50+ miles after the flash so there is a regular reading for any codes they need for any software related updates.
2nd. Locking your DME absolutely does nothing to prevent the dealer from seeing your previous flash/tune.
I had my DME locked and drove for 400+ miles to get the data pushed as far back in the reading as far as possible.
Within 10 minutes of the car being at the dealer the shop foreman calls me. Hi so who's your tuner? Hashtag pay to play.

What was the car getting done in service that they called you? How did that play out? Warranty toast?

So far a few ppl about 10 cars all different (M240, 340, X3, etc) flash to stock and lock ECU drive at least 100 miles and are getting serviced at their dealership without any problems.
Just remember warranty void and flagging are 2 different things.

Weird, because in multiple dealerships that Adam X3M40i and a few other guys across the states that we know from our chat have gone to service their car. All the BM3 cars that flash to stock and lock ecu are not flagged but other tunes like mhd/jb4 get picked up. Even a few SA guys, that flash their car to stock drive for a few days do not get picked up by the system.

I was in for a simple oil change. The shop foreman asked me about who I was tuned with. I said my car is stock besides my down pipe that's why I'm getting the check engine in the dash. He said I know your car has been tuned. BMW wants to know if it was a reputable tuner. I said yes. Its PTF. He said ok thats good. Gave a good day. So IDK. it was just a oil change lol.

So, PTF just remoted in and successfully restored my stage 2 tune. What did they do differently? Only three things:

1. Disabled windows defender
2. Disabled Bluetooth on my laptop and had me turn off BT on my cellphone that's normally synced with my car
3. They downloaded the tune first and THEN flashed it.

Now, before the DME update I flashed my car successfully without doing any of the above three steps. What changed? I don't know, but with these additional steps I'm back to 600 plus HP and loving it.

I have been loving the PTF tune I have nothing but good things to say about these guys! My car has been running great and like MrItaly said at 600+ HP I have no complaints here.

I was not worried I knew they would take care of the issue. I'm happy to hear two people have now completed remotes and been able to download and flash. I have a regular service an oil change coming up so I have been anxiously awaiting the DME update.

Just got my new SSR downpipes in and ordered my Akropovic exhaust today so I am looking forward to flashing stage 2 soon...

Thanks for the info guys keep us posted I will update with my post DME experience in the next week or so

Did you have to use battery charger plugged in?

Slightly off topic or maybe not too much, is anyone having issues with datalogging with BM3? I added all the default channels and the advanced channels and my dashboard freezes and I am unable to datalog. I submitted a ticket to PTF with a screen recording Im wondering is anyone experiencing this as well?

I guess you'll have to settle the GFV and try and resell.
I sold mine to BMW no issues. PCP cleared without any problem. Was up for sale in the dealship.

The same thing happens to me! Not sure if it makes a difference but mine is with a 12 pro max, what about yours?

Same. ios 14.2.1 12 Pro max. I can only do 10 advanced channels. Anything over that datalog freezes. Does not read full pull 3rd - 5th.

Weird.

I just took my macbook out today and datalogged just fine, so its either something with the 12 pro max or the ethernet to lightning adapter.

Which adapter are you using?

I tested with the laptop and ethernet or with the wifi agent and iphone. But its most likely isolated to the b58 and the advanced channels.
Yes all default channels log fine. Adding advanced channels for the custom tune request unfortunately freezes the system.

I actually added all channels, sorry I should have mentioned that.

So its only freezing on the phone, but runs fine on the laptop.

Any update on whether they resolved this yet?

Been holding off on buying my license since I'm not sure if it'll allow me to tune mine. Just bought the car two weeks ago so I'm sure it has the latest DME/software.

The flashing back to stock issue was short lived and is resolved. If that's what issue you are talking about.

I was under the impression that the latest DME is unable to be tuned. I was planning to go stage 1, but not sure if it will work? Just wanted to confirm before i buy the license.

Yes, all good here. Happy customer again. Not sure why these extra steps were necessary now after I had already flashed it successfully a dozen times before without doing all this. Maybe it was simply an update to windows defender that's completely out of PTF's control. I don't know. I just know it works like a charm now with the extra steps.
