Laser Detector going off when interacting with the iDrive screen

I have an older Escort Max 2.
I have noticed that the laser portion will trigger when I interact with the screen sometimes. Thought that was a little odd, maybe has something to do with the gesture control sensors right below the radar detector?

Wondering if anyone has run into that with other detectors?

I have that issue with my V1G2. Had to disable front & rear laser. I’ve seen some people be able to put electrical tape over the gesture control sensor, but I haven’t tested it.

Ok, pretty much what I was thinking. I never use gesture controls, I wonder if that can be disabled in iDrive (Don't remember seeing anything in there)

EDIT, I did find the gesture controls in iDrive and have turned them off, we'll see how that works...

9500iX here and I just ignore the laser warnings. Luckily it's not heavily used around me for speed enforcement, mostly KA and K. I have gesture control turned off, and I still get the false alerts.

My V1 did the same thing. I disabled the GC and placed a carbon fiber cover over the upper control panel that didn't have the cut out for the sensor.
Fixed the issue and i still have laser detection enabled.

So I went in to the idrive and just disabled gesture control. That seemed to do the trick luckily.

Or so I thought, was cold this morning and I got all sorts of Laser falses when interacting with the iDrive.

So I had to disable Laser in the detector, which I'm not crazy about. I'll have to read some reviews and see if the Uniden stuff has this issue.

I've been holding on to my Escort stuff mostly because of the GPS auto lockouts that work great. The reviews for the Unidens seem to indicate that while they have had this feature it doesn't work really well at all.

I keep hoping someone besides escort will get the auto GPS lockouts working as well so I can upgrade my old detector..

I have my pigdar detector mounted on the windshield in front of the screen, so the radio signal from the roof console doesnt reach the pigdar.

When I had it lower/closer to the screen and it interfered with gesture ctrl, I found that disabling X and K bands worked to minimize it. I left Ka and Laser on and seemed to work.

Same here. I have always placed it high to the left of the rearview mirror. This way the camera has full view of the front and rear windows.

Just wanted to add an update here. I ended replacing my old Escort Max 2 with a Uniden R8 and I have no more laser falses for whatever reason. Gesture control is still turned off in iDrive as its a pretty useless feature, but 4 days now and not a single laser false. So that's a plus.

I had this issue when I had my V1 mounted to the windscreen with the suction cups. I eventually bought a blend mount for under the rear view mirror and haven’t had an issue yet, with gesture control turned on.

Although I agree, mostly useless feature.

Both my escort and uniden were on Blendmounts. But the old escort was certainly starting to get wonky, screen was all worn out. So i guess it was time.
