I realize this advice is easy to give and hard to follow, but I will offer it anyway.

You chose your preferred car model and spec for good reasons. You likely spent a significant amount of time figuring out exactly what you wanted before committing to a deal. It would be a great shame to let all that go due to an unanticipated delay.

I do understand that the delay is very frustrating, and I can't honestly say I would be any less pissed if I were in your shoes. However, I would much rather live with the delay in the short term than live with a lesser choice of car for several years.

Whatever you choose I wish you luck and good mental health until it is resolved

Wow that's quite some delay. Good luck OP, I didn't think it would get to this.

I must be very lucky. My dealer just phoned to say mine has just arrived and am picking it up this afternoon. Sorry about the op situation but unless you can find a stock car probably best sitting tight with your order.

I do agree to a point however my Merc E220 has already been returned (1st March) and so car sharing with the wife is becoming increasingly difficult, Dealer wouldn’t even provide a demo for me too have in short term so beginning to feel that they want me to cancel anyway.

My other concern is that the 29th March comes and goes and we still have a no deal or an extension and BMW turn around and say that they are still not shipping

Or not, this is from the article:

Under the plan, the UK car industry will receive some protection, with some imported cars attracting tariffs.
I feel your frustration, we’re car sharing right now waiting for my M40

No deal would of course be a bad situation but from what I'm reading in the news it sounds like parliament will likely do anything they can to avoid that. However, it also sounds like that may really be in the hands of the EU. If they agree to an extension then that could be the best result for you. If the extension is lengthy enough for BMW to start shipping again, you would get your car sooner than you think and without tariffs. Sound about right?

That was my thinking but we’ve come to an agreement today, asked for deposit back and all of sudden a similar higher spec vehicle with 3 year service plan, boot liner and paint protection appeared for same money - hopefully at my dealer in next 10 days

Let’s hope so - I’ve had to compromise on black leather interior instead of the oyster I ordered but something I can live with (I hope)

got a message on the weekend from my BMW dealer to say that mine is on a boat (or maybe in a port) not entirely sure from where or how long it'll take but I'm quite enjoying thrashing my current car in anticipation!

If it's any consolation, the Oyster could be a pain to keep clean. I have a similar color on my outgoing X5 and I switched to black for my M40i for that reason. I don't think I'll ever do a light color leather again.

(New member) Which I posted spec on this forum 'Whats my build' last week.
Lucky for me, ordered 15 January promised delivery end of March early April and just had confirmation today from my BMW dealer, that car had arrived from Spartenburg & now on way via transporter.
So have arranged to pick up next Wednesday midday....Must say a lot quicker build & delivery than my last suv (VW Tiguan) two years ago which took just over 4 months, and the 'main thing' ..No Brexit surcharges....Phewww

Hi! I ordered mine a little earlier than you (12th Jan), and got the automated email from BMW saying it had left the factory on February 26th. When did you get your email?

Bugger. Interesting mine went into production so much later, but I guess it all depends on the slots each dealership gets.

I better get saving then!

Is your coming from Spartanburg?

If so import duty shouldn't be a issue as there should already be duty of 10% on cars manufactured in USA coming to EU so if we do leave without a deal that in theory should only go up by 0.6%

We never see this cost as duty is paid by the importer on their cost price and not the consumer on list price, there is also a anomaly that there is no duty on imports from Rosslyn but they don't discount the price

I can't see them changing prices after agreed unless something specific is in place, there maybe updated price lists if we do leave for new orders though to average it out
