HK system speaker crunch/rattle
Picked up my 20i yesterday.
After a couple of hours I noticed a crunch/rattle in the center front dashboard speaker. As a small-time audio-freak I was really The strange thing is, it seemed to worsen after I've made a telephone call (BT/Carplay) which also uses that speaker. The sound was horrible, schrill and crunching all over. After that, the crunch/rattle in the center speaker seemed worse... So now I hear it at low volume, with all music. And even setting up volume louder, especially with slow basses. Also sometimes the crunch seems to be gone, but when I fiddle with the volume a bit, or make a phonecall, it's back... Or maybe I just haven't heard it.. Dealer told me to bring the car in next week, but said problems with speakers are difficult to reproduce and even fix. Is it the speaker? Or is it the housing..? Was wondering if it might could have anything to do with breaking in the speakers.. But I think it's to much to be that. I can hear a sort of "tin-sound" coming out of the backspeakers, but that's probably the need of breaking in these speakers. Any audio-pro's who got ideas on this topic?

Trying to describe the sounds it's making, including translation from Dutch to English
But it sounds like the speaker blew up a little. Like a small tear in the membrane. You can hear a cracking, static distortion through the music.

Sounds like a blown speaker. Happened to my 2015 EClass Coupe which also had a HK sound system. It happened for me because I switched from Bluetooth to AUX and the volume shot up and blew the speaker. Benz did warranty it out, however.

I've noticed that the rattle is less when the car stood in the sun for a while.
So when the dash (and speaker) got hot, and probably expanded, the rattle was almost unhearable. This morning it was back. So due to the expansion, some loose parts probably tightened up a bit. Really hope my BMW dealer can fix this tomorrow! Also, the right speaker in the back has a really metal/clunky sound. Probably needs to break in more? A bit in doubt if the surrounding parts of the cargo cover releasebutton aren't resonating..?
