Glacier Silver M40i

Test drove an M40i yesterday and was blown away (currently in a 228i with lease expiring). I'm torn on exterior color and don't really love any of the options.

My favorite is carbon black, but I currently have a dark car and it looks good for about 15 minutes after I wash it.

So I'm considering Glacial Silver. My only concern is how do the cerium trim pieces (grill, mirror, etc.) look with Silver. Does it look mismatched and like a "mistake" or do they seem to go together nicely? I found some pics online but so hard to tell without seeing them in person.

Anyone ever seen this combo in person and have any thoughts?

I know some people swap to black trim, but not sure I have the time, capability or wherewithal to make that happen so needs to work in stock form.

I can't help with pics but Glacier Silver is easily my favorite color on the G01 in stock/cerium or blacked out. I actually own Alpine White but find myself salivating over the few silvers that are posted. Ours is my wife's daily and she ordered it, but I'd do silver in a minute if it were me.

I have a GC M235i and the grey bits go well with the paint color. My wife wanted GC on the X3 but I didn't want two identical colored cars.

Wow, in my searches I didn't find those pics. Gorgeous car, doesn't look "off" at all. Thanks to everyone who replied.

To add my comments regarding Glacier Silver with the Cerium Grey, I was extremely happy with it when I first got it but quickly found that the Cerium Gray shows water spots really easily and it's not the easiest to get rid of them or keep them at bay. This was my first reason on why I swapped to the gloss black trim pieces. My second reason was I ended up deciding that I wanted the pieces to match the gloss black window trim and roof rails.

Ceramic coating eliminates the water spotting on the Cerium Grey trim. Did mine the first day I received it. A quick wipe and it's gone. Also did the wheels. Makes cleaning much easier. Just an FYI.

Both work nicely on Glacier Silver. It's a very forgiving color for mods. Even if you mix and match.....BUT - Unless your car is a dark color, I don't recommend blacking out the side mirrors. It narrows the car from the front. Silver/Cerium mirrors make the car wider. As it is, without spacers, whenever I see an X3 in my rear view, it looks really narrow cause the stock offset is really noticeable. My 15mm spacers all around made a HUGE difference. Here's my thread on it if you're interested:

+1. I love the Cerium, and Catania coating makes cleaning a doddle 👌

You don't need to swap the gloss black bits over yourself - it is a nil cost option available on order - in fact I think the new builds with id7 etc have this as standard

EDIt: I should have said standard with Msport plus pack

Car looks great with either black or silver accents. Lowered with spacers I'd take it with the silver bits. Very classy looking.

I have Glacier Silver and Chicagofan's comments are spot on.

In my opinion I think the Cerium Gray contrast with Glacier Silver could be better. I did replace my kidney with a black grill from IND though none of the other bits yet. (After the fact, the wife did comment she liked the Cerium Gray as is)

In a perfect world, I would have liked to have seen a Black Optics package like on the Audis where the kidneys, boomerangs, side vents, mirror caps and rear badging would all be black. To me that does make the white and silver colored cars pop more so. Call me an X3M poser, though I think that this makes the most sense for my color palette.
