Bonnet liner?

Hi fellas,

Had my car a couple of weeks, but today when I cleaned it, was the first time I looked under the bonnet. Previous car had a cover on the inside of the bonnet. But this one doesn't. Is this correct?

By the picture I would bet you have a 30i with M Sport package like mine. It seems all 30i don't get the hood insulation/liner and I noticed that on my 30i a few days ago.

I wonder if BMW removed the insulation on the 30i to reduce costs or weight or if it's not really needed for the 2.0 engine. I'm a bit concerned that I read many folks saying that the insulation/liner is important to protect the paint above it, but I don't know if that can really cause issues on the 30i.

I also saw people buying the parts separately from getbmwparts.com for something around $300 and installing them on the 30i just fine. I don't remember where I read it though.

I believe the liner for the 30i and 20i are installed only in hot countries, and the m40i gets it worldwide.

Haven't got one on mine....3.0d
In a way I'm glad as after a while I always think the padding looks shoddy...so have waxed under there to keep the nice clean look
