blink of an eye, was it because driving without safety belt buckled?

Anyone seen on their instrument cluster, in the center where shows variable information's, that displays our car "in red" outlines? Crazy right?

I wish i had a photo of it, nor able to find a match in the online manual's section under instrument cluster displays for various warnings, indications, functions, etc.

Odd...

It was brief, and i do recall hearing an audible tone or sort.

Obviously, i got concerned and decided to post this for feedback.

I'll see if i can repro this and get a photo.

On a similar note, i wish there was little more simpler place to go in owners manual or elsewhere that lists all the different images, displays, indicators, etc. that the instrument cluster can show, under different/varying circumstances. It's like (to me) having to fish for these details, with extra efforts from the manual.

You mean this one? If so, than nothing crazy about it. Seatbelt always in - safety first! Try app version of the manual. Might be better.

Looks like what i may have seen is the symbol of crossing traffic warning on the instrument display. Not 100% sure, but close enough. If it is that important, it will show up again.

Ah, you beat me to it! I think so, that is the only one that makes sense from the manual, at least. Wasn't expecting it, nor saw one like that before, so wasn't sure how that symbol would show up, but i recall was size of about 2 inch x 2 inch symbol (5 cm x 5 cm) or so.

Thanks!

Were you driving over rough pavement or a railroad crossing when you got that alert? I've only experienced one collision detection warning with flashing red car and the acoustic alert, and I happened to be driving over a rough 3 track railway crossing at the time.

Back when I was still SUV shopping, I spent a fair bit of time trying to determine if particular models were susceptible to false positives in their collision detection systems. BMW appears to be pretty good, and won't slam your brakes to avoid steam rising from a sewer grate, but a rough road surface looks like it can still fool the system into thinking there's an object in your path.

Good question. No, i don't think so, since the drive was short and in back of my neighborhood, so i'm familiar with the layout and surrounding. Perhaps that's why i just didn't buckle up. Don't do that!

I'll be more alert next time.
