Will putting the new gen2 detector high on the windshield by the visor help with false alerts while having the gesture control function as usual? Thinking of getting the concealed display unit regardless of gesture control issue. Will this setup work without disabling anything?
It will constantly set off Laser. You need to either disable laser, or cover up the gesture control camera.
Or get a detector that doesn't have this issue ie the uniden r7

allinon72 did you ever resolve interference between GC and the V1G2? I have a V1G2 and plan to have it mounted under the mirror via blendmount and mirror tap, but just now seeing this. Assuming it's false laser warnings?

GC wore off it's novelty. I got used to - + volume buttons on the steering wheel. Placed a small piece of black gorilla tape on that GC interface and my old V1G1 is working fine now.

I just ended up turning laser off on the detector since it isn't really used around here.

The only way to fully get rid of warnings is to cover the actual gesture control camera and LED array. Or disable laser in your V1 Gen 2. Gesture control to me is near useless and If I had to use it for anything it would be for the special gesture you can set to navigate home. Volume and pause and next station get hit unexpectedly when moving hands around to change climate or hold drinks in place.

Thank you. Is there a "best" way to cover the said area and leave it looking OEMish? I guess it would help if my car actually arrived, but I have no clue where the array is at the moment

It's up by the dome light. Use your camera and look up at the dome light area. You'll see red infrared LEDS. Just use some tape or something to cover it up however you feel is best.

I think I posted earlier in this thread - and I guess if you're hard set on the blend mount and under mirror mounting, then disregard my comments. However, in this car, I'm using a windshield mount up and to the left of the mirror and I am not having interference between GC and my V1G2.

In my F90 in roughly the same location I had almost constant LASER warnings on the V1G2. I ended up having to cover the LASER emitter in that car. I used an old piece of matte black vinyl wrap I had from another project, placed it up against the emitter, trimmed around it with a sharp blade (gently) and pulled the excess off - the flat black wrap nearly matches the texture of the plastic up there and it pretty much disappeared.

Wouldn't it be lovely if the chip shortage impacted gesture control and BMW dropped that feature?

Thank you. I just prefer having the blendmount/mirrortap combo, but I'm always open to ideas. Do you happen to have a link to the mount you are using?

So the blend mount gets false signals? My adhd is kicking in.

I'm just using the standard windshield mount that came w the V1G2 - have it tucked right up next to the headliner to the left of the mirror.

I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic or?

I never said the blend mount causes the false alerts. However, I do think having the detector below the mirror definitely makes it more likely to pick up false laser alerts.

What I did say was that mounted high on the windshield and to the left of the rear view mirror, F90 vs F97 I got a lot of false alerts in the F90 but in the F97 I get almost none.

I was being honest in asking, trying to read through this thread does not do well with my adhd.
Thanks for the clarification
