Thoughts on S58 Motor in the G87 M2?

So as well all know, BMW has gone ahead and put the S58 in G8X's M3/M4's. Not entirely sure if its been addressed on this Sub Forum but I also own a F87 with a S55 and with a BM3 Stage 2/intake/dp it is pretty much a beefed up go kart, Was wondering myself and did a quick google search on what engine BMW will most likely drop in the G87 and it seems they will repeat history and throw a S58 in a G87 like how they dropped a M3/M4 S55 into a M2C LCI.

I personally like the interior/exterior in the F87 more than the G87 other than the fact it does not have a digital cluster like pre-LCI F97/F98 and maybe if the petrol gods allow, S58 swap into a S55?

I also have an F87 M2, but the LCI N55 variant (2018). Love the car, but an S58 swap into it would be a dream. It's a really fun car and I feel like it's very underrated.

It will most certainly have the s58 as BMW, like most manufacturers, have all but stopped ICE development.

You sir are also living the dream and listening to the tunes of an N55. I like the bold deep tone exhaust more over the raspy S55.

Yes sir - I do love the sound. The cold start is super aggressive and most people think it's catless or has an aftermarket exhaust.

The new M2 will be absolutely bonkers. I would take it without a second thought over the M3/4.

Strange they would lock up a monster in chains. M2C's S55 cranks out 405. Seems like BMW is making every M car Competition now so I highly doubt the new M2 will have less HP than the predecessor.

It’s just speculation but I could see them not wanting to eat into M3/4 sales.

At the same horsepower, less the nostrils, it would be hard not to get the M2.

If that's the case it will need much smaller turbos, which will be interesting with the high compression ratio.

I've seen the new camo photos recently & I'll take the new chunky butt of the G87 M2 over the massive buck tooth front grill of the G80 M3 in a heartbeat & anyday. Hope the BMW designers can really deliver a complete package that's easy on the eyes this time. I bought my X3 MC on purpose & for this exact same reason... because the M3 still has a front end that "you have to get use to." No one should drive a car where you have to force yourself to love the front end of it.

I think what he means is, for the F Series the M4's S55 was put into to M2C so he thinks there's a possibility they'll do the same to stick a S58 into a M2C again which seems to be what's going to happen.
