leak from Roof
Hi there
Any one had this issue where a water leak is coming from the Panoramic roof Control Panel and also running down from the A pillar to the floor. Floor mat is soaking wet. Had the car from new, 22 model and probably only opened the pan roof a handful of times. I haven't thoroughly looked around the Pan roof as I just found out last night and its pissing rain still. I have already booked the car as its under warranty. Just want to know what could be the cause. Thanks much

Possibly blocked sunroof drain. There is one drain tube at each corner, and if they become blocked, water builds up in the pano roof tray and overflows, resulting in what you’re experiencing. The front drains are visible when the front doors are open and can be found below the door tension link. |

Also needs care clearing the drain tubes as it’s possible to disconnect them from the roof tray and they have a small diameter. Last edited by avi66; 03-28-2024 at 01:34 PM.. |

[QUOTE=avi66;31026157]It’s a poor design, especially as the pano roof seals shrink and allow more water through. Just needs some organic growth or a build of detritus, and you end up with a fish tank.
Also needs care clearing the drain tubes as it’s possible to discount them the roof tray and they have a small diameter. Is this something that is done at the 10K service? Or should I request it? Or is it easy to DIY?

Thanks for the reply. Funny thing is, I probably only opened it twice in 2 years, which is why Im wondering how could it be blocked. Does the drain share drainage with the windscreen drain as well? But would check tomorrow when its not raining.

Amazon has this tool and many more like it for less than $10...

Problem is it’s constantly exposed to UV and environmental containments, which cause it to shrink. Water can then build up even without opening the roof, resulting in organic sludge forming that can block the drain. Last edited by avi66; 03-29-2024 at 05:49 AM.. |

From the video, the rear drain looks to be a total PITA to clean. I would think that IF you can get under the car it would be easier to clean out the drain from the outside instead of taking so much of the interior out.
I assume the drain is visible from under the car since the water must drip onto the pavement. |
