Those are the first things I am planning on adding to mine when it delivers. That and the floating roundels...

It is WAY quieter, less crashy over bumps/imperfections, far smoother ride overall.

I know RFTs have their negatives but on the positive side are they stronger more durable at road abuse potholes etc over Non RFT ?

That's an interesting question!
You would think RFTs would be more durable due to the reinforced sidewall (which tends to make them ride harder) but people seem to have just as many issues with blow outs, and in some cases blaming the RFT!

It is possible that the more rigid sidewall of an RFT - when met with a large pothole - is more susceptible to a failure because of it's rigidity... strength and rigidity are not necessarily the same thing.

Definitely quieter and more refined. Turn in not quite as sharp I assume due to the non RFT sidewall but don't let that deter you. Also the Allenzas stopping power under hard breaking in the rain was borderline dangerous in my view. Much better rubber compound on the Michelins.

I know these RFT Bridgestone Duelers I have aren't a highly rated tire but being in NYC I don't mind the solid feeling they give when hitting road imperfections/ potholes. I always cringed how a softer tire felt on these warzone roads. Although when it's time to replace it won't be RFT lol

Welcome to the club. I am enjoying them too. Much less crashy, more quiet, great launching traction, and so smooth on the highway. What pressures are you running?

Would these work on a 2018 M40i with 718s? I know the sizing is a little off. Wanting to switch my Allenza's for all seasons so I can head to Tahoe, but can't find exact size 21s that are all weather.

This is what the installer inflated them to for me.

I'm thinking I will do the same when my OEM Alenzas wear out. I'm guessing I will get about 20k or so out of my Alenzas and am at just under 16k now.

I run a square setup at 19" and was planning to go to square 20" when I made the switch, but now I think I will probably just stay at 19". So I'll be looking at 245/50-19 all the way around. I have a spare already.

I hope they have my size available. Haven't checked yet.

I guess my wheel/tire size makes me an outlier on this forum, but I have concluded that from a performance point-of-view the 19" is just fine for me, and although I agree that a larger wheel looks a bit nicer, at this point I don't care that much about cosmetics.

My tire installer finally found me some Michelin pilot sport all season 4s for the 20" staggered setup (245/45/20 and 275/40/20). The rears have been on backorder for ages.

Getting them installed this week, super excited to get these Pirelli Scorpion Winters off now that it's warm out and feel better in the corners.

I have 4000 miles on mine and couldn’t be happier. The ride is night and day much softer, and traction in wet and dry is great. Although these are a little more floaty at high speed cornering, the difference is not a deal killer. They take pot holes much better than RF’s, meaning no jolting if you hit one. Comfort mode feels like comfort mode should with these tires.

Side note, the Michelins were back ordered when I was buying new tires and rims. The Tire Rack SA recommended the Continental’s as a second choice. He said the difference was the Michelins would take a slight lead in dry handling, and not feel as floaty as the Continental’s. Since I still have my 699M rims. In the future I may try them for a personal comparison! I did purchase the BMW mobility kit to carry with me and a spare from modern spare that I keep in my garage.

Added a consumer comparison review https://www.tirerack.com/tires/CompareTires.jsp

Anyone ever change from the OEM 21" Alenza setup to 255/40/21 Front and 265/40/21 Rear with the Michelin Pilots? This seems to be the X3M set up. I cant get any tires for the rear in 275 or 295 sizes other than the RF Alenzas and I really want to switch to non run flat.

Well after a couple of weeks I am kind of happy with the Michelin pilot 4 A/S.

Good:

Quieter
Better rubber with better grip
All around refinement
Never seem to have to add air
Wet performance light years better

Bad

More roll

And I am surprised by given all I got, how much I miss the slot car aspect with the stiffer sidewalls on the Allenza
