Jacek: I sent you a PM with a link to my Foobar2000 installation. I use ExactAudioCopy (http://www.exactaudiocopy.de/) to rip CDs to FLAC. ExactAudioCopy has the ability to fetch CD information from the internet. Although, I most often use MP3Tag (https://www.mp3tag.de/en/) or Tag & Rename (https://www.softpointer.com/tr.htm) for tagging. Both programs can tag FLAC, MP3, and OGG files.

I have a 2020 X3 M COmpetition with the HK system. I have experimented with ALAC, FLAC, AIFF and WAV. I prefer AIFF and that’s primarily what I rip to and use on my main stereo system (in house). But, AIFF plays back very nicely in the X3MC.....but so far no album art (I’m working on that). For all music for which I want album art (as it does look good onto BMW flat screen) I rip to ALAC (easiest and sounds great). I did use FLAC, which is very good, but every device will not always do FLAC. And, all of my devices are Apple type. Important to note that FLAC and ALAC are really identical (one is called Free Lossless Audio Codec and the other Apple Lossless Audio Codec). Used to be a slight difference but not today....both do 96kHz, 24bit, 1024kbps...and if ripped so and from the exact same source the playback should be identical. It’s a lot easier and simpler to playback ALAC if you have iTunes. I use dBpoweramp Music Converter/Ripper. I find it’s easy and powerful. Suits my needs very well (dBpoweramp.com). And, just so you know, I have also used Tidal and Amazon HD via Apple Car Play in the X3MC - sounds pretty good. Good luck.
